Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'Why should India always woo Pakistan and not vice versa?' that was published in Newsband

Why should India always woo Pakistan and not vice versa?
Karan Johar has pledged not to work with “talent from the neighbouring country”. Was it an attempt to salvage his production, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil? And while Johar is crying for his movie, we have the biggest and bestest in media batting for him. Remember when Kamal Hassan and his trials by fire - Viswaroopam and all subsequent films ran into trouble with religious extremist groups, no one from Bollywood uttered a whisper in his support. Neither did the Barkha Dutts of media. No one.
"Do we use India’s incredible soft power to win over Pakistanis and others to the ideals of democracy, liberalism, secularism, syncretism for the greater good?" Pakistanis don't want democracy, secularism or liberalism. Around 84% of Pakistanis support sharia and by the looks of it, they will be getting that soon. Unlike left liberals, we would like to be as far and isolated away from them as possible.
Was the boycott of South Africa by the cricket world a mob action or was it a good step supporting the rights of black people? Is the boycott of Pakistani actors mobocracy or a bold and non-violent step to stand up to a terrorist-sponsored state?
Time after time, our kindness have been returned by Pakistan in the form of Kargil, Mumbai, Phankot, Uri etc. When the neighbouring country doesn’t stop terrorism and encourage and aid to kill Indians what’s the point in inviting and supporting their artists. Their artists/people if they think they are neutral, they should ask their own government or army/ISI to shutdown terrorism support first. Let’s see some action in the ground and not just in denial mode. Hate is being preached by Pakistan and certain sickular elements within India for grabbing votes.
1. What has the 'calls for peace' been able to achieve in the last 70 years? 2. Why do we need Pakistani artists at all? We have no dearth of talent in India. 3. The artists have not condemned the attack. What stopped them from doing so?
Every citizen of a country is inherently responsible for its actions, directly or indirectly. The artists from Pak might be innocent, that doesn't strip them off the guilt of its actions. India has always been in war with Pak, and there's a reason for trade and other restrictions between the countries. Until Pak cleans its acts, this situation will continue. Those people who want to reap benefits from India should be discouraged until then. Only then will there be pressure on the Pak govt. to address its issues better.
For once let us give the opportunity to Pakistan state to woo us, instead of us trying to win them over every time.
In the name of people to people contact should India allow a drama troupe from Pakistan to stage a drama depicting Kashmiri people as not Indians but Pakistanis or Pakistani artist painting a picture of India excluding Kashmir to an art exhibition in Mumbai or Delhi? Come on, there is limit to tolerance to freedom to artists as they don't land from heaven.

Are not we trying to be too much liberal here? Where is the anger that we had at the time of Uri attack? We all have asked for a comprehensive solution and this boycott seems the solution. Art though should not have any limitation, but will we be able to tolerate the fact that these actors are from the nation which supports terrorism against our nation. Pakistani actors would always support their nation's stance and so should we. The full boycott will not affect India or Pakistan substantially. Then let’s do it. Enough of Aman ki Asha.
