Actor and entrepreneur, Preity Zinta, is now a producer and writer
By Dinesh Kamath
The prettiest actor of yesteryear Preity
Zinta is in the news owing to the Indian Premier League (IPL) which is in
full swing. Preity is a frank person
and she does not hesitate to express her emotions as and when she wants. She is
the co-owner of the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) team and you will find her at the
cricket stadiums cheering her team and watching very closely her team's
progress. When she is not watching cricket she is busy promoting her upcoming
film, Ishkq in Paris directed by Prem
Raaj.
For more than five years she has not been pursuing her acting career.
Instead she took up T20 cricket as a challenge, and thus she became one of the
few women in a man's field. She has to work really hard to promote both her
team and the film. She returns as the leading lady in Ishqk in Paris. The film
also marks her debut as producer and co-writer. In this film, she stars
opposite Rhehan Malliek (better
remembered as Dr Rahul from the TV
show Sanjivani).
The film, shot primarily in Paris, also stars French actress Isabelle Adjani and is set to release
on May 24. It's a contemporary story, a romcom that will appeal to all age
groups. Preity was inspired by
incidences from her life and her friends while writing the film. It was a
chance meeting with the Tibetan spiritual leader, Dalai Lama that brought Preity
Zinta back to films. She had an insightful conversation with him. She was
upset over KXIP losing a game and Dalai
Lama asked her to compete in her own playing field and use her craft to the
best of her ability. By acting in her own production, Preity is trying to make a comeback in Bollywood. Preity did excel as an actor and entrepreneur.
Now it is left to be seen whether she will shine as a producer. Good Luck, Preity!
