NAVI MUMBAI: Suresh Bijlani, the prime accused in builder Sunil Loharia's
murder case and who is on the run, had desperately tried to get an anticipatory
bail. Indore
bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court had granted Suresh Bijlani 60 days to
file for anticipatory bail. Bijlani submitted this order to Mumbai Crime
Branch. In fact, Bijlani who has been dodging the police for three months,
walked into the police headquarters at Crawford Market and handed over his
transit anticipatory bail order issued by the court on Monday.
The
order states that he cannot be arrested in these 60 days. But Bijlani’s
anticipatory bail plea in the Supreme Court has already been rejected and once
the Supreme Court has rejected a plea, a lower court cannot intervene in the
matter.
Crime
Branch officials are studying the order very closely before taking any action.
Bijlani claims to have had no time to apply for the anticipatory bail when the
murder case against him was registered in Navi Mumbai since his father was
suffering from cancer.
Loharia's
son Sunny Kumar pointed out that Bijlani had referred to himself as resident of
Navi Mumbai while applying for bail in the Supreme Court while he claimed to be
the resident of Indore in his application to Indore bench. Sunny Kumar
further said that Bijlani’s father lived in the same building as he did in Navi
Mumbai. Sunny Kumar is now looking forward to challenging the Indore court order.
The
police feel that it could be part of a gameplan as the Indore order comes a week after the crime
branch filed a chargesheet.
