Demand for housing
facilities for city policemen
By Dinesh Kamath
NAVI MUMBAI: The
Bharatiya Janata Party of Navi Mumbai are supporting the idea of providing
housing facilities to the policemen of the city. Navi Mumbai BJP leaders are
trying to get the state government to cooperate with them in achieving this
goal. They have even taken up the matter with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The BJP members are also of the opinion that the few
flats meant for policemen which are there at Belapur badly needs repair.
Actually, City and Industrial Development Corporation is supposed to look into
this matter and take immediate action. In fact, the flats meant for police men
should be redeveloped after being provided with more FSI, said a BJP member.
The plight of the retired policemen is also pathetic.
When the top policemen are finding it difficult to find a suitable house for themselves,
one can imagine the plight of the retired policemen then. Hence this particular
group also is badly in need of housing facilities and the state government has
been requested to look into this matter urgently.
Their monthly salary makes it difficult for them to rent
or buy a house in the city, said officers from the department.
