hospitals functional very soon

NAVI MUMBAI: Navi
Mumbai Municipal Corporation had done a yeomen job by coming up with three
hospitals in Airoli, Belapur and Nerul. The civic body even got these hospitals
inaugurated in November. But the hospitals are yet to become functional. The
NMMC authorities kept on promising to make these hospitals function in a short
time but then the municipal elections kept them so busy that they had no time
to pay attention to these hospitals. Now that the elections are over the civic
body is hurrying up with the work of providing the hospitals with all the
necessary medical equipments and qualified doctors and para-medicos. They have
now promised to make these hospitals functional from the beginning of June.
Once these hospitals become functional, there will be no
need for people who reside far away from Vashi to bring their patients all the way
to the NMMC Hospital located at Vashi. They will have wider choice. They can
admit the patients to the hospital at Airoli, Belapur or Nerul which have
reasonable number of beds. This will release the pressure that is felt by the staff
of civic hospital at Vashi.
The process of hiring of medical staff and doctors,
installing of medical gas pipelines, making available the CT scan facility etc
is at the final stage and this time it appears that the civic body will keep
its promise of making the hospitals functional from beginning of next month.
