PFI organises camp for
Prisoner's Children

NAVI MUMBAI: In
a time where normal children are enjoying life, the Prison Fellowship India,
(PFI) Maharashtra Chapter decided to do something unique and that was to take
the children of the prisoners for a one day camp on 26th May 2015 under their
Children of Prisoners Project (CPP) at the ARC Centre, Panvel.
"We are so glad that we had over 150 children to
whom we not only catered to their mental growth but also gave them gift which
had a school bag, umbrella, tiffin box, water bottle, pencil box, pencil, pen,
ruler, writing pad, wrapper, geometry box and notebooks" said Mr Shaji
Varghese, Executive Director, PFI- Maharashtra.
The Chief Guest, Shri Shivaji Achme, Superintendent,
Taloja Prison in his speech said "It's so rare to find people coming
forward to look after the needs of the Prisoner's Children. I congratulate Mr.
Shaji and his team for the wonderful work they are doing."
"I am humbled to be invited and a part of such a
noble cause such as looking after the children of the prisoners and we hope to
join hands in future to enhance the work that is happening" said Dr.
Jayakar Ellis, President, Heart Foundation and Guest of honour for this
occasion.
"I am thankful to PFI who are looking after me and
my children on a regular basis" said Mrs Khan whose husband is in the
prison for over a year.
"I am amazed that the PFI brought children from all
over Maharashtra like Palghar, Thane, Ambernath and various places said
Ritanjali Iyer, Volunteer.
The other dignitaries were Mr. Regi C V, AGM, Federal
Bank, Mr. Naik, Mr. Zacharaih, Counselor and others.
