NAVI MUMBAI: The
Seawoods Darave railway station is yet to be fully renovated. It will be opened
for public after safety checks, functioning of the signaling system and trial
run of trains. This will be done by City and Industrial Development Corporation
and Central Railway. The connectivity from Nerul, and beyond to Belapur, and
laying of the tracks are almost completed.
The new structure has double discharge facilities,
subways and concourses for commuters to enter the station from both sides. The
handicapped can access the station and there are multiple fire exit points,
railway offices and ticketing counters at subway level, making it easy for
commuters.
The existing station will be used by trains which ply to
Uran and thus there will be a Seawoods-Uran corridor. After that the growing
south side of the city will be linked with new townships, airport project and
JNPT.
The project of constructing new Seawoods station is
undertaken by L & T Seawoods Private Ltd. This new station will be
constructed like Vashi and Belapur stations. This new structure will have
offices, commercial centres and shopping malls.
