Citizens should follow Cyber Safety laws says Deepak Shikarpur

NAVI MUMBAI: The Cyber Safety week was organized by the Navi Mumbai Police Commisionarate under their Cyber Cell was inaugurated at the hands of Mr. Deepak Shikarpur, Chief Guest on 14th December 2015 at Park Hotel where top Corporates and IT heads attended in full. Over 300 participated from all over Navi Mumbai.
Talking to a packed audience, Mr. Shikarpur said “Nowadays everyone uses smart phone, email, social media etc and through this, criminals take all the requisite details and use it to do crime. Mostly the younger generations are targeted so we should inculcate the dos and don’ts of Cyber Safety from the 7th standard onwards to enable the children to Be Aware and Be Secure.”
“I would like to appeal to all the citizens, ngos, companies, youth and children to join hands with the Navi Mumbai Police to fight Cyber crime by educating themselves through these 6 days of our training and also be a part to minimize it by making themselves aware and secure” said Prabhat Ranjan.
“Internet, though offers great benefit to society, also present opportunities for crime using new and highly sophisticated technology tools. Today e-mail and websites have become the preferred means of communication. So please authenticate every mail or sms before you go ahead to communicate” said Dilip Sawant.
Talking at the IPR/ Digital Piracy at the Reliance Hall, Rabale, Marathi Actress Sonali Kulkarni said “We need to educate the children and the youth about Digital Piracy and the impact it has on all of us and the nation on the whole. We also need to educate the criminals and let them know how dangerous it is to indulge in Cyber crime.” She pleaded to the public saying “Please allow us to survive. Join hands to stop Piracy.”
“Present during the occasion were key dignitaries such as Shri Deepak Shikarpur, IT Expert & Renowed author, Mr. Prabhat Ranjan, Commissioner of Police, Navi Mumbai, Addl CP Vijay Chauhan, Dilip Sawant DCP (Crime) Shri. Deepankar Bose, CGM, Mumbai Circle, State Bank of India, and Mrs. Ashalata Govind, GM, CISO, State Bank of India. Speakers were Advocate Prashant Mali and Shri. Raviraj Doshi, CTO Smokescreen” said Rajendra  Bhamre ACP (Crime).
Police Inspector Mrs. Pratibha Shendge, Cyber Crime Cell In Charge, thanked the dignitaries and the speakers for their valuable inputs and hoped that all would take these programs seriously and learn from it.
"Digital Piracy is fatally injurious to our Nation's health, wealth and prosperity so it is high time we take cognizance of the above and be serious in healing the Nation from this Cancerous growth" said Dr. Mohan Dewan, Advocate and Speaker at the Digital Piracy seminar.

“Cyber Safe Week is being launched for the second time in Navi Mumbai and I am privileged to be associated with it once again. The event is designed to engage and educate public, private sector partners, societies and educational institutions through events and initiatives with the goal of raising awareness about cyber security and increasing the resiliency of Navi Mumbai in the event of a cyber incident” said Sangeeta Alphonso, Senior Police Inspector, Nerul Police Station and Cyber Law Expert.
