‘National Hindu Movement’ stage an agitation at KK
Demand a ban on the film 'Bajirao-Mastani' for distorting history
By Dinesh Kamath

KOPARKHAIRANE: The spokesman for Hindu Janjagruti Samiti said, “The history has been distorted through the recently released trailer, teaser and the song 'Pinga Pinga' from the ensuing film 'Bajirao-Mastani', directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. In the song, Kashibai, the wife of Bajirao and Mastani are shown as dancing together. During the times of Peshwas, according to the tradition of the women from the respected families, they did not dance by displaying such body language. The women from the royal families such as Rajmata Jijau, Rani Lakshmibai, Tarabai, Rani Chennama, etc. assiduously followed this tradition. They displayed valour by carrying swords and defeating enemies. However, Bhansali does not seem to have studied these royal traditions and relied solely on the traditions of Bollywood, wherein it is usual for them to make their own daughters dance and kiss the third persons. Let us hope that Bhansali's distortion of history due to inadequate information would not pass as freedom of expression. This act is nothing but getting rich by damaging the ideal family system during the rule of Peshwas. Hence we are demanding by lodging a complaint with the Central Board of Film Certification and Department of Culture, Government of Bharat, that a ban should be imposed on the film 'Bajirao-Mastani' if the distortion of the history is not removed. Similarly, the programme to celebrate Christmas along with 195 churches and distribution of clothes to 2 lakh Christians by the Telangana Government should be cancelled.”
To raise these demands, the National Hindu Movement held agitations today at 5.00 pm Opposite Gulab Sons Dairy, Koparkhairane and some parts of Mumbai. Representatives of Bajarang Dal, RSS, VHP, Hindu Janjagaran Mancha, Hindu Ekta Mancha, Hindu Ekta Sangharsha Samiti, Shivprasthisthan Hindustan, Shivkarya Pratishthan, Swarajya Yuva Pratisthan, Shiv Swarajya Sanvardhan Pratisthan, Akhil Navi Mumbai Hindu Mahasangha, Shiv Sadhana Samuha, Shiv Force, Yuva Mitra Sena, Bhagavi Sena, Yuva Maharashtra Sena, Hindu Rashtra Sena, Hindu Mahasabha, Hindu Govansh Raksha Samiti, Yog Vendanta Samiti, Iskcon, Sanatan Sanstha, Shiv Sena, BJP and Hindu Janjagruti Samiti participated in the agitations.

“Another demand raised on this occasion was that the decision of Telangana Government should be withdrawn, and the secular Government should be stopped from using public funds for the appeasement of minorities,” said Dr. Uday Dhuri of National Hindu Movement.
