Mumbai Mirror is an upcoming 2013 Indian Hindi film directed by Ankush Bhatt starring Sachiin J Joshi, Prakash Raj, Gihana Khan, Vimala Raman, Aditya Pancholi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Raja Bherwani and Prashant Narayanan. The film is produced by Raina S Joshi, written by Ghalib Asad Bhopali, and with music by Amjad Nadeem.
The movie exposes the nexus between powerful, corrupt dance bar owners and the Mumbai police. Mumbai Mirror will release on 18 January 2013.
The film has Sachiin J Joshi as Abhijeet Patil, Prakash Raj as Shetty, Gihana Khan as Rani, Raja Bherwani as Nikhil, Vimala Raman as Jia, Mahesh Manjrekar as ACP Gaitonde, Aditya Pancholi as Durrani and Prashant Narayanan as Manish.
After his debut in Aazaan, Sachiin J Joshi plays a quirky cop in this realistic commercial potboiler. Mallika Sherawat who agreed to play the lead opposite Sachiin J Joshi, walked out of the project. Later Gihana Khan was chosen as female lead. Earlier it was reported that Nana Patekar was approached to play the main villain, but Prakash Raj has been signed on for the pivotal role.
The soundtrack of Mumbai Mirror is composed by Amjad Nadeem and the album contains six tracks. Musicperk.com rated the album 6.5/10. Lyrics are by Shabbir Ahmed, Satya Prakash and Naveen Tyagi.
The film has songs like Doom Pe Lakdi sung by Sukhwinder Singh, Sachiin J Joshi, Nadeem Khan & Preeti & Pinky, Marjawa by Sonu Nigam, Govinda Ala Re by Wajid Ali, Thumka by Shreya Ghoshal, Blunder by Ritu Pathak and Marjawa by Sayantani Das.
Mumbai Mirror is an action movie. In this film, Sachiin Joshi is seen packing some mean punches and performing some hard-core action. Sachiin Joshi is the protagonist and Prakash Raj is the bad guy. It looks like Joshi is highly inspired by cop flicks like Dabangg and Singham. People might go gaga over his fight sequences and desi dabangg kinda attitude.
Prakash Raj is seen indulging in the same villainous antics and he proves that he’s an actor par excellence.
Produced by Viiking Media & Entertainment Pvt Ltd, Mumbai Mirror is a cop-drama film, which with its unique screenplay also manages to fall in the genres of suspense and action.
The story of the film is interesting. The protagonist of the film is Abhijeet Patil, a police officer; and the film revolves around his rise and fall. Being a police officer in this big-bad city called Mumbai can be quite some task. Mumbai, contrary to the other parts of the country, works on its own unique little philosophy. People here are the most ambitious and the risks taken for the fulfillment of the same are the most dangerous. Everybody who comes here starts running for an unknown race, and each one aspires to win it. This film predominantly captures this struggle for the survival of the fittest.
Cop dramas have become very common nowadays and Mumbai Mirror seems to be another one in the same genre with a twist in the form of suspense factor that has been woven in the script. With no star power to boast of, film solely depends on the storyline and the actors. Most of the tracks in the film are situational with one item track and a romantic track as fixtures. There are five original tracks composed by Anand Raj Anand and Amjad Nadeem.
I’ll elaborate on the song and music of the film. Doom Pe Lakdi is a total Mumbaiya song, which is being used to establish the protagonist. The number is sung by lots of singers with varied experience.
Marjawa seems as if the track has been made exclusively for Sonu Nigam. He adds his velvety voice to the catchy music and delivers a hit. There is a female version of the same song by Sayantani Das who adds the required charm and sexiness to the romantic track in her version. Shabbir Ahmed’s lyrics do an apt job of communicating the feelings with good choice of words, especially the Punjabi effect in both the versions. Both the versions can be tagged as the best tracks in the album.
Govinda Ala Re has Mumbai as its backdrop. Track keeps the tempo of the earlier tracks. It is a fun filled song with interesting lyrics.
Thumka has Shreya Ghosal trying to add the same naughtiness and fun in this track.
Blunder is a front seat track and honestly Naveen Tyagi’s lyrics serve the purpose of fulfilling the requirement of an item number in the cop drama.
Thus the songs and music of the movie are not bad.
You may watch the film Mumbai Mirror when it gets released on 18 January 2013.
