Dinesh Kamath's column on movie 'Rajdhani Express: Point Blank Justice' that was published in Newsband

Rajdhani Express: Point Blank Justice is socio-political Drama Releasing on 4 January 2013 and directed by Ashok Kohli. The project is produced by CineActs Production, Trueman Entertainment & SLA Impex Pvt Ltd.
The film has Leander Paes as Keshav, Jimmy Shergill as DY. Commissioner Yadav, Priyanshu Chatterjee as Banerjee, Sudhanshu Pandey as Munish, Pooja Bose as Sunita, Sayali Bhagat as Reena, Mukesh Rishi as S.I., Ishrat Ali as Minister Indrale, Kiran Kumar as Bhaijee, Achint Kaur as Pearl, Shilpa Shukla as Lady Si, Gulshan Grover as T.T.E and Sanjay Gagnani.
World famous sportsman Leander Paes is making his debut as an actor with the socio-political drama Rajdhani Express - Point Blank Justice. In the film, Leander is playing the character of Keshav, an errand boy for a gun runner, who steals the weapon and a ticket to escape and travel in Rajdhani Express from Delhi to Mumbai. Inside the train his fate is no better.
As a person Paes always loves to take challenges. So now he has taken an initiative to be an actor which is his passion; now it will be up to the audiences how they like him as actor. The audiences have given him lots of love as a tennis player. It is left to be seen whether they appreciate his passion for acting.
His first day in his first movie was the beginning of a fantastic journey for him. He had full trust on his director, who turned to be a great guide too. It is his beautiful story of an Aam Aadami (common man). Keshav is a completely different personality from what he actually is; his behavior, reactions, his looks, his means.... everything is different from what Leander as Long Tennis player is in his real life.
Paes and director Kohli did workshops wherein Kohli briefed him in depth about his character Keshav. Kohli’s vision was very clear and that is what impressed Paes about this film a lot. Keshav means Lord Krishna. So Keshav is in everyone, even in the common man. He is an impressive character and challenging because he is not at all like the real Leander. He has seen many falls in his life and has taken a lot from the society. Now is the time for society to hear Keshav's point of view.
Paes was working with nearly 400 people in Rajdhani Express. All were tremendously supportive. There were times when his shoot used to clash with his tournaments but through his team support all went on right track.
The music of the film is composed by Lahu Mahdev and Ritesh Nalini and Lyrics penned by Mirza Galib, Rameez and Brb.
Rajdhani Express is a film which has been influenced by the past ventures such as A Wednesday and Rang De Basanti. Directed by Ashok Kohli the film has a strong character centric storyline which will compel the viewers to sit back and associate with the real life instances where the common man has to bear the brunt of the indifferent nature of the system.
The film’s main stars Jimmy Shergill and Leander Paes have been pitted across each other. Paes essays the role of a common man who has been pitted against the corrupt and indifferent system which has no qualms in cheating the common masses for their own greed and sinister needs. Although both the protagonist and antagonists have not met each other in person, yet the film is able to highlight how they are both involved in a serious situation which can be life threatening and have disastrous consequences.
The movie compels the viewers to take notice of how a common man becomes a victim to the bureaucracy.
The film is full of thought provoking moments which will surely hit you hard with its near reality aspect and set the wheels of change into motion.
Thus Keshav is the David in the David and Goliath story...Aam Aadmi (common man)...he is one of you!
Do watch the film Rajdhani Express when it gets released on 4 January 2013.
