The city has many dog lovers

NAVI MUMBAI: Taking
care of dogs is not an easy task. There are many dog owners in Navi Mumbai who
face variety of problems while taking care of their dogs. Those who possess
female dogs face more problems than the ones who have male dogs as pets.
Paresh Mehta, a resident of Nerul, says, “Female dogs
make a lot of fuss and they always are facing some or the other kind of health
issue. The most headache part is when these female dogs face menstrual cycle
and also when they are pregnant. But this is not the case with male dogs which
from the fitness angle is no problem at all to their owners. The male dogs are
fun to play with when they are puppies but once they grow up there is need to
keep a close watch on them since they are always in search of female dogs to mate with.”
But there are some NMMC officials who find all these dogs
owned by pet owners very problemmatic since these dogs tend to spoil the beauty
of the city like Navi Mumbai which is built in a very well planned manner.
These dogs dirty the well planned footpaths or posh places which exist in the
city. It is NMMC ultimately and not the dog owners who have to answer for the
mess created by these creatures.
In spite of all these problems created by these pets,
there is no dearth of animal lovers who are always eager to have dogs as their
pets. Some of these dog lovers also come up with dog adoption camps so that
people who love dogs can come to camp and choose the one they would like to adopt.
Such is the love for dogs that many residents in the city harbour.
