Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'BJP is doing fine!' that was published in Newsband

BJP is doing fine!
In the last one year the Bharatiya Janata Party has performed quite well. The challenge for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah was to devise a strategy to retain the support of an increasingly impatient core group of the party with the Hindutva cultural nationalist project as the agenda, and to live up to the expectations of the new converts who were hoping the government would deliver on the promise of jobs and growth and better living standards. Between the Lok Sabha victory and the Delhi loss, the BJP tied up with the Peoples Democratic Party in J&K, agreeing to compromise on certain issues. Since coming to power, Modi has been consistent in his handling of many issues.
In its 60 years of rule, Congress has systematically painted BJP as communal. But what was Congress? It was Pseudo-secular and anti-Hindu. In the name of secularism, the Congress was weakening the Hindu community in India. Media as purveyor of truth and an important column of democracy is afraid apparently to take side of BJP or Modi lest somebody call them communal. In which country in the world, the government over there is not pro-majority community? Are those governments branded as communal? No! Then if BJP is pro-majority community or pro-Hindu, what is the harm? What are the media-persons trying to prove? Are they trying to say that if a Hindu party comes to power it is communal and if a non-Hindu party comes to power it is secular? The actual fact is Hindu party is much more secular than non-Hindu party. It is high time the entire media-persons of India accepted this fact.
RSS is converting BJP into a hardcore Hindutava party. There is nothing wrong in it. It will not affect the secular image of the party. This is because Hindutva ideology basically supports secularism. There are very few religions in the world which support secularism. Hinduism is undoubtedly one of those few religions which believe in secularism.
Everyone knows that BJP was the best party to vote for, in the last election. Modi is doing his duties honestly and the results are apparent. He has never delivered any statement regarding Hindutva, rather he always tried to promote development of all communities. Handling a nation with about 1.2 billion population is not a cakewalk, it needs time.
However, BJP & Modi is only India's hope of making India strong enough to face Pakistan & China. May Indians have a better sense to retain freedom or be destroyed by enemies - who are now operating within India, including news & media to break unity and bring about anarchy.
Some people keep cribbing that BJP has not yet delivered their promises. Judging a government on the basis of 10 months is just not fair. Why weren't the same question being asked by people when the previous government ruled for 10 long years. That's clear hypocrisy.

The vested interests in this country, which can even include certain media groups, may want to push Modi, and make him take hasty decisions which can be later used to hound him out further. So Modi & Co, can leave all the sanctimonious advice from the "concerned" activists and media and continue with their current plans. The nation gets a chance to vote for another Lok Sabha four years down the line. If Modi & BJP can have good proof for what is already done, and what is in store for the future that would be enough. The smart Indian voter will take a decision on whom to vote at that point of time.
