Problems relating to errant autos continue to persist
By Dinesh Kamath

NAVI MUMBAI: The city residents seem to have had enough of the nuisance caused by auto and cab operators. They have demanded strict action against auto and cab operators to curb fare refusal complaints. They have asked the RTO to take immediate and stringent action against errant auto operators. “Serve them show-cause notice and if they don’t respond lodge a complaint,” said one of the city residents while discussing this issue with transport authorities. “In fact, RTO should use the power to withhold annual fitness certificate or other documents of the vehicle, if the culprit doesn’t respond,” he added.
In the years 2014 and 2015 there have been quite many complaints like refusal or rude behaviour by auto and cab drivers. The complaints were lodged with RTO which in turn did issue show-cause notices against those whose complaints were registered. They were also fined and some had their licence suspended.

“In spite of all these actions taken against the cab and auto drivers, the problem continues to persist,” said a frustrated city resident.
