NAVI MUMBAI: The idea of the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) to come up with a seven-storey youth hostel on a reasonably big plot in Sector 12 Kharghar is a great one. This move by MTDC is bound to boost tourism in Maharashtra. It will take few more months to make this dream a reality. The price of the rooms in the hostel will be reasonable and affordable to tourists belonging to all economic categories.
Navi Mumbai consists of many tourist spots and this attracts people belonging to the city itself and also from other parts of India and also foreigners. Considering this fact and also to promote tourism MTDC has come up with the idea of constructing a hostel at Kharghar which is undoubtedly the most ideal place for the hostel to come up.
The hostel will not provide accommodation to students and this has disappointed many young outsiders who come to Navi Mumbai to pursue courses in many colleges in the city. But the MTDC authorities have made it very clear that this hostel is meant for young people, particularly those who come from outside Navi Mumbai and who are interested in visiting the tourist spots to get the idea of culture and traditions of Maharashtra. These spots do provide a lot of information related to varieties of food, types of music and nature of dances that exist in the state. There will be no gender discrimination and the hostel will be open for both men and women. The hostel will also have other facilities like rooms for one or two occupants, library, gym, conference hall, cafeteria, restaurant and a meditation centre.

Thus the hostel will be designed to suit all types of tourists and it will be having all kinds of facilities that a typical tourist is always on the lookout for. Other issues like rates, rules etc. will be finalized after the completion of the hostel after which it will be made operational.
