By Dinesh Kamath
NAVI MUMBAI: Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation is not in a mood to let the city of Navi Mumbai lag behind other great cities of the world. This time the corporation has come up with an idea of building a skating park just like the one that exists in advanced cities of the foreign countries. Nerul has been chosen as the place where a bowl-shaped sporting complex with all the latest facilities will be constructed. Such a kind of structure doesn’t exist anywhere else in the city. A land in Sector 11 A, Nerul was found to be just suited for this ambitious venture.  The proposed skating park will also have a mini hall, a stage and a badminton court.
NMMC will initially come up with skating park and then it will be followed by a kabaddi court, tennis lawn, volleyball court and swimming pool.
Administrative approval has been obtained for the project which will soon be worked upon as soon as some necessary formalities are done.
There are many young ones in Navi Mumbai who have deep interest in this sport called skating and they are the happiest to learn that NMMC will be soon providing them with super skating facilities just near the place where they stay.

A young expert in skating said, “Skating can be done for a variety of reasons, including exercise, leisure, traveling, and various sports. Skating occurs both on specially prepared indoor and outdoor tracks, as well as on naturally occurring bodies of frozen water, such as lakes and rivers. Skating became popular as a recreation, a means of transport and spectator sport. Skating as a sport developed on the lakes of Scotland and the canals of the Netherlands.”
