Dinesh Kamath liked the film ‘Film Star’ very much

‘Film Star’ is the film made in 2005. But I saw the film today and I loved it very much. I was totally impressed by the performance of Mahima Chaudhry. Priyanshu Chatterjee too gave a sterling performance.
Film Star is a 2005 Hindi film directed by Tanuja Chandra and starring Priyanshu Chatterjee, Mahima Chaudhry and Vasundhara Das.
An arrogant actress decides to make her comeback with a film based on another woman's life. Little does she know that this could expose many secrets. In other words, an uppity film actress who has her heads in the clouds is disturbed by the slump in her career. She decides to stage a lavish comeback by starting a film based on another woman's dramatic life. By doing this, she is unaware that she has just opened a can of worms. And with this, her eyes are also opened to the dark secrets in her society.
Fed-up of the physical abuse meted out to her at the hands of her husband and her in-laws, Leela Sharma pours kerosene on her husband, Abhishek, and burns him alive. This horrifies the community, and the Sharma family files a police complaint, get Leela arrested and she is held in prison until she gets sentenced. Since Pandit Chandrakant Sharma has a wealthy background, as well as is a Minister in the ruling political party, all are quite certain that Leela will end up getting the death sentence. Then the Bollywood actress, Heera Pandit, hoping to get some publicity from this trial to help her with her career, gets involved and actively supports Leela, thus earning the wrath of several political, religious, and even women's groups. Heera meets Leela, hires a lawyer, Digamber Puri, to defend her and the stage is set for a trial that has the attention of the nation, as not only is Leela on trial - but Indian traditions too, and the result may change the lives of many people all over the country.

Super film! Super performance by Mahima Choudhry! You too watch the film.
