Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'PM doesn’t understand the common man' that was published in Newsband

PM doesn’t understand the common man
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has announced that he would ‘hand over the baton’ after the elections. So it is clear that Rahul Gandhi will be the Prime Ministerial candidate of Congress.
Dr. Singh also said that it would be ‘disastrous’ for India to have Narendra Modi as Prime Minister. It would be interesting to know as to what Singh has to say about Arvind Kejriwal who is undoubtedly ‘Mr. Absolutely Clean’ and who is in the fray for PM-ship as much as Modi or Gandhi is.
He further added that the India-U.S. nuclear deal was his ‘best moment’. There is no doubt about that.
During the last 10 years, Manmohan Singh failed to use his Prime Ministerial power to transform the nation. Be it governance, infrastructure, corruption or foreign policy gains, this UPA government has failed to live up to the expectations of a billion people. If the Congress was unable to live up to its Agenda, then it should have resigned. An incapable government and an equally incapable Prime Minister do more harm than good to a nation. A weak Prime Minister who is incapable of acting against the corrupt within his cabinet cannot be expected to lead a crusade against corruption nationwide and provide good governance.
When recently Singh reasoned as to why Gandhi should be passed on the baton rather than Modi, it was a kind of marketing speech. Singh should be brave enough to own up responsibility for high inflation, corruption and inefficient governance during his tenure.
Singh who is known for being soft spoken and highly educated has never understood the pains and issues of common man of India. His studies and books did not give him enough knowledge on how a landless labourer gets his food. Singh may be a great personality but in no way was he fit to lead India.
Power without responsibility is the most dangerous thing in a political regime and that's what is happening in the Congress which is a democratic party with most undemocratic methods. It is Sonia Gandhi who takes crucial decisions for the country. Then why does the country need a Prime Minister?

PM’s statement of passing on the baton to Rahul Gandhi is nothing but an act of showing his gratefulness to a family for making him PM although he was not at all fit for that post.
