MUMBAI: A vehicle
service centre owner and his son were arrested from Navi Mumbai by Crime Branch.
They are suspected of indulging in transferring the money paid to contract
killers of builder S K Lahoria. The names of this father-son duo are Gerald
Bhovin (67) and Jackson Bhovin (28).
This father and son have a service
centre located at Palm Beach Road
that belongs to prime accused builder Suresh Bijlani. Gerald is someone who got
along very well with both the accused, Bijlani and architect Anuragh Garg. Both
the accused are still absconding. Bijlani would get his vehicles serviced at Gerald's
centre.
Besides this father and son duo, others
who are in police custody in connection with this murder case are shooters
Venkastesh Shettiar and Wajid Qureshi, former encounter cop Emmanuel Amolik and
builders Sumit Bacchewar, Altaf Khan and Mohammed Ansari alias Bhaijan.
Garg had got his driver to deliver the
cash to Gerald. Gerald then delivered the cash to Amolik before Lahoria was
shot dead on 16 February 2013. After the murder, Gerald received another bag
containing cash from the driver which he passed on to Amolik. The police during
investigation learnt about the transaction that took place. It was clear that
the cash was supposed to be contract-killing money.
The police have yet to decide whether
the father and son should be considered as accused and kept under arrest or made
witnesses.
