A vital break-through in Loharia murder case: police in search of Bijlani and Garg
By Dinesh Kamath
NAVI MUMBAI: Mumbai Police Crime Branch has issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against Navi Mumbai-based builders Suresh Bijlani and Anurag Garg in connection with the murder of builder SK Loharia.
It was issued on Friday. The LOC prevents them from crossing borders. LOC was given to security authorities deployed at immigration checks at all International airports and ports. As per the LOC, they are supposed to hand the criminals over to investigators if they spot them.
The crime branch enjoyed a break-through when they managed to arrest another real estate agent Sumit Ganpat Bachewar. Earlier, the police had arrested Emmanuel Amolik, Venkatesh Shettiar and Wajid Qureshi. The latter two had been hired by Amolik to execute Loharia outside his office.
It was Bachewar who revealed the involvement of Bijlani and his architect Anurag Garg in this incident.  The police also found out that rivalry was the motive behind the murder. The police are not ruling out the possibility of involvement of the underworld in the case.
They are now in the process of evaluating Bijlani’s properties and will soon start seizing them. Bijlani, a prime suspect, is on the run. His anticipatory bail application was rejected by Bombay High Court last Monday. HC also denied him protection for 10 days to approach Supreme Court.
In his "oral dying declaration" made in the presence of an office boy and an autorickshaw driver, Lohariya had implicated Bijlani. Even Lohariya's son Sandeep had said that Bijlani had threatened his father with dire consequences. Garg, an associate of Bijlani, is also alleged to have taken part in the conspiracy to eliminate Lohariya.
Along with businessman Sumit Bachchewar, who was arrested Wednesday, Bijlani and Garg were involved with Lohariya in businesses connected to the 12.5 per cent scheme of CIDCO in Navi Mumbai. Crime branch sources said their relations later soured. Lohariya, in fact, was fighting a case against them.
Thus the police are hunting for Bijlani and Garg. Their arrest might give the police a tighter grip on the case.
