Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'Can Kejriwal make it to top?' that was published in Newsband

Can Kejriwal make it to top?
Arvind Kejriwal has many Indian eyes focused on him. People are well aware about his education at IIT Kharagpur, his subsequent career as a bureaucrat, his role as an RTI (right to information) activist, his past alliances with Anna Hazare and Kiran Bedi and his subsequent fallout with both. This man has made himself open to every scrutiny. That is the best thing about him. He believes in justice for all and he is prepared to go to any extent to end crooked governance.
He could be the new kind of politician we have long hoped for. He is ambitious and self confident. He is intellectual enough to lead a brand new political party.
RTI movement is Kejriwal’s passion. RTI, he said, is what needs to grow in India and that can’t happen with funds. Plainly money isn’t going to be a key driver in this man’s life.
Kejriwal is no middle-class seeker. When he inveighed against the rampant corruption in all government dealings, it was the middle-class that sent out a collective cheer. But as he announces the formation of a party, what will give him the momentum needed to become a national player will be the backlash of the poorest of the land. His detractors do fault him for breaking ranks with his co-conspirators in the great march against corruption. But it is obvious that Kejriwal is no fence-sitter.
The constitution allows everyone the right to contest the polls without asking for any guarantees on what they will do post-elections. So there is nothing wrong in Kejriwal too nurturing political ambition. Kejriwal stands out for his transparency, his background and his doggedness. He refuses to fear the big shots in Indian politics. That is another plus point of his. He has boldly chosen to launch his political party. How he fares remains to be seen. But India’s crowded political space needs more such people to muscle out the current lot of corrupt politicians.
It appears that the days of corrupt politicians are numbered.  After parting ways with Anna Hazare, Kejriwal has changed the slogan “I am Anna” to a new one that is “I am Aam Aadmi” (I am a common man). He aspires to join hands with local level activists from all the corners of the country. Kejriwal also stated that the door of their party is open to people from all strata of the society that cuts across economic as well as social boundaries.
The political party that is launched is a new development in the anti-corruption movement. The newly formed party seeks to change the political dynamics by making it more accountable and transparent for the “aam aadmi”. This represents a healthy alternative and a striking contrast to our mainstream parties. When in the contemporary situation, political parties are more engraved in satisfying their vested interests, Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party strongly believes in the universal democratic principal “for the people, of the people and by the people”. In his draft of nine-points named “Vision Document”, Kejriwal envisions people’s mandate in addition to bringing about judicial, police, bureaucracy and electoral reforms.

Kejriwal’s idea of bringing power to the people does sound rhetoric. But time will be the yardstick to measure the impact of Kejriwal’s party on Indian politics.

VHS of Kharghar adopts new technology for the benefit of students
By Dinesh Kamath

KHARGHAR: Vishwajyot High School also known as 'VHS', is a private school in Kharghar.
Vishwajyot High School is a part of the Shevantabai & Shankarrao Foundation. The school was founded in 2004 with only kindergarten classes. Gradually, more classes were introduced. At present the school has classes from Kindergarten to Class 10.School's philosophy is " To make students independent learner by teaching them how to earn".
The school logo is a torch and a nib. The nib is a symbol of education and the torch denotes that VHS students will illumine the world with their wisdom and creativity.
The school is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CICSE). It is a co-educational day school with around 700 students located opposite Central Park Kharghar Sector-20.
Vishwajyot High School encourages the students to take part in various co-curricular activities held in school such as music, dance, arts and sports. The campus of Vishwajyot High School is equipped with infrastructural facilities such as class rooms with teaching aids, library, computer labs, science labs and playground.
It was built to address the problems in the Indian education system by espousing: Virtual One on One Coaching, English Communication Skills, Integrated Learning, Experiential Learning and School Goals.
The shoool believes in making the students integrated individuals so that they will be better equipped to: analyse real life situation and arrive at conclusion, handle any situation in life effectively, speak eloquently, be self-confident and creative, be aware of the environment and its conservation, and be good global citizen, while rooted in Indian culture.
VHS is often in news for their unique teaching method and academic achievements.
At Vishwajyot High School, Kharghar, teachers pay particular attention on students who are struggling and help them master the topics. They analyze the student’s problems with the help of technology. The management of the school has been trying this experiment since last three years. The school tries to know not only whether the student understands the subject but also tries to find out whether the student is able to know its concepts. The school doesn’t believe in just conferring on the students a A, B or C grade but it shows the students the route along which they should go in order to improve themselves.
In this school, the students are taught to focus on the weaker areas rather they just study hard. The school believes that a child is finding a subject difficult only because the child has not been able to pick up the basics of the subject. Hence total attention is paid in helping the child to pick up the basics after which the child begins to find the subject easy to follow.
This is a new system of education and it is called the data-driven education. This education involves data-driven decision making (DDM) and this system is become very popular all over the world. This system consists of collecting and analyzing of various types of data which gives a clear picture of where the student is lagging behind and where he or she excels.
Through the system, one can judge the performance of students question-wise. Here both the strong and weak points of the students are highlighted after extremely careful analysis of the datas relating to the student is collected. This system helps the teachers a lot since they get the clear picture of the strong and weak points of the students owing to which they come to know as to which areas have to be addressed.
This experiment has yielded good results. Students benefited considerably by this system and they have been able to score very well in the exams. There has been tremendous improvement in the performances of the students after this system was adopted. The school is so much excited about the excellent result that this system has produced that it wants to take the technology to the next level by making it available online.

The school is designing a software in which the data will be fed owing to which the child’s progress not just in exams and class tests, but also with their regular homework can be ascertained. The school will be providing login ids and passwords to the students and staff, wherein students will get the opportunities to answer the questions and teachers will find it very easy to have the full statistical data about the students’ performances in the examinations. Thus this is a kind of online technology and shows promise of benefiting the students considerably.

Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'Is this verdict or personal opinion?' that was published in Newsband

Is this verdict or personal opinion?
The Madras High Court’s view that pre-marital sex between an unmarried man and woman, otherwise unencumbered by any third party interest, amounts to marriage is truly outrageous. According to the judge, the physical consummation between a man above 21 and a woman above 18, arising out of “sexual cravings” would be considered a “valid marriage” and they become “husband and wife”. He adds a strange observation that when a couple seeks to separate after being in a sexual relationship, the ‘husband’ cannot marry anyone without getting a divorce from the ‘wife’.
The judge seeks to incorporate a highly personalised view of sexual behaviour into the concept of marriage. None of what the judge has said has any basis in law, either modern and codified or customary.
In a liberal society there must be a total and full liberation of the sexes for the better instead of the drab, loveless, bondage called marriage among the large numbers of couples. This judgment shows how conservative thinking we have in this society. The idea of calling living in couple and having pre-marital sex as equivalent to marriage is absurd. You can't just make new laws or interpret a law differently based on your personal opinions.
The law and order in India is overstepping its boundaries; It's totally unjustified for a judiciary body to preach morality - that is not its job. Not only have they not thought this through but they have made the gender discrimination in the country more prominent.
India is a country where the sex ratio is dwindling - pointing steadily to the fact that ours is a country that favours the patrimonial subjugation of the women and what this decision goes on to do is to widen the exact same gap between the two genders - showcasing that women are weak and hence need protection. They have not discussed the ramifications such a decision might have in the future and the way it can be misused, which can lead to the incarceration of the innocent.
These half baked morals against the expression of freedom (which in this case is the right to have sex) will have a negative influence on the society. The judgment is a cure worse than the disease. In other words it is likely to create more problems rather than solve the existing ones.
The judgment might have far reaching consequences and will tempt a couple, who are just lovers, to indulge in pre-marital sex with the ultimate aim to get married. They may claim to have had engaged in sex even though they were waiting to get married but are denied the permission or consent of the parents to put pressure on them. They will start living without any sanctity of time tested ritual called marriage and the importance that we attach, as a matter of right, taking umbrage under the legality of having attained the age to become majors.

The judgment and the observations made - notwithstanding the instant case - needs to be revisited again for the good of Society in the backdrop of the fact that already, we are experiencing the decades of decay in marital relationships and the resultant crimes, with the passage of time.

Ghanchakkar (English: Crazzy) is a Bollywood comedy thriller film directed by Rajkumar Gupta and produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur from UTV Motion Pictures. The film features Emraan Hashmi opposite Vidya Balan in the lead.
The movie has an interesting story. When Sanju (Emraan Hashmi), a suave, master safe cracker wants to retire from a career in crime, he decides to team up with two dangerous criminals to commit one last heist. A bank robbery that will ensure that he never has to worry about money again. The robbery is successful and everything goes according to plan. Sanju is given the task of hiding the money till things cool down and the booty can be split. Three months later, the associates return to collect their share of the loot, but Sanju refuses to even recognize them! They realize he got into an accident and is suffering from strong amnesia and decide to stay with Sanju and his wife Neetu (Vidya Balan) until Sanju remembers where he hid the money. What dangerous game is Sanju playing? Ghanchakkar is a crazy, quirky rollercoaster suspense ride that aims to surprise, shock and entertain the audience at every turn.

The Heat
The Heat is a 2013 crime action comedy film directed by Paul Feig, and starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy.
The film has an interesting plot. FBI Special Agent Sarah Ashburn (Sandra Bullock) and Detective Shannon Mullins (Melissa McCarthy) must take down a Russian mobster. While the two women couldn't possibly be any more different, from the way they live their lives to the way in which they go about doing their jobs, they are forced to team up when they go face-to-face with a powerful drug lord.
The film has Sandra Bullock as FBI Special Agent Sarah Ashburn, Melissa McCarthy as Detective Shannon Mullins, Dan Bakkedahl as DEA Agent Craig, Michael Rapaport as Jason Mullins, Marlon Wayans as Levy, Tony Hale, Brandon Richardson, Taran Killam as Adam, Nathan Corddry as Michael Mullins, Kaitlin Olson, Demián Bichir as Hale, Bill Burr as Boris Vulsvich, Michael McDonald as Julian, Lance Norris, Jamie Denbo, Jessica Chaffin as Gina, Steve Bannos as Wayne, Raw Leiba as Julian's Henchman and Joey McIntyre.

Hummingbird
Hummingbird (released as Redemption in the US and Crazy Joe in France) is a British thriller film directed by Steven Knight and starring Jason Statham.
The film has an interesting plot. Returning from a traumatic tour of duty in Afghanistan, Joseph 'Joey' Jones (Jason Statham), an ex-Royal Marine, returns to Great Britain to face another kind of war — life on the London streets as a homeless and damaged veteran. In an attempt to refresh himself, after being brutally beaten by a gang of men on a cold street corner, Joey breaks into an apartment and assumes another man's identity and seeks the aid of Sister Cristina (Agata Buzek), a young nun who works at an inner-city parish. But Joey's military training makes him a valuable asset, and he soon finds himself caught in the dark complex of London's criminal underworld. Struggling to keep hold of his sanity, Joey offers his profits to those who need it most. But when he learns his missing girlfriend was brutally murdered by a ruthless kingpin, he risks everything for revenge, hurtling down a deadly path that promises to destroy him completely, or be his final and only hope at redeeming himself...
Hummingbird was almost entirely filmed throughout the hours of night. Filming sites included popular streets for homeless people and apparently sometimes even involved them. Statham stated that before filming started there was a lot of research into the mental health issues of the main protagonist. Some ex-servicemen were asked about their own experiences they had.

Majhi Shala
Majhi Shala is a Marathi film produced by Passionwoald Entertainments, directed by Shantanu Anant Tambe, with screenplay and story written by: Shantanu Anant Tambe. The Star Cast consists of Arun Nalavade, Alka kubal-Athalye, Jayant Sawarkar, Ashok Pawde, Deepjyoti, Baban Joshi, Sanchit Yadav, Purnima Vaval and Mast. Akash Waghmode.

The film is based on the intense lifelong struggle of a villager who has dedicated and sacrificed everything to a primary school in his remote village. The story spans long years of struggle from past to present times, where nothing has changed much in the cultural perspectives of small farmers. They have witnessed prospective commercial changes with the availability of modern consumer products, yet a decent primary education is still a distant dream. The question is why our Government cannot deliver what many can do? Why our society is repulsive to progressive ideology yet succumbing to short term temptations without a hitch? Why can’t we think of inclusive development? Why the social infrastructure eludes support to the efforts of a dedicated social worker?

Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'Kerry’s visit - useful for India' that was published in Newsband

Kerry’s visit - useful for India
US Secretary of State John Kerry made his first trip to India as secretary of state where he worked to enhance a U.S.-India relationship that is deeply rooted despite ongoing disagreements about U.S. support of India's archrival, Pakistan, roadblocks to trade, restrictions on American companies doing business in fast-growing India and uncertainty about the future stability of Afghanistan.
Just before the Kerry visit to Delhi, the Barack Obama administration was engaged in a fire-fighting exercise over revelations about the intrusive cyber snooping that the US National Security Agency is involved in, and the fact that India ranks as the fifth most targeted nation had raised eyebrows in Delhi.
The Obama administration admitted that it was engaged in quiet talks with the Taliban about a peace agreement, ahead of the 2014 US withdrawal from Afghanistan. This has caused concern in Delhi.
The positive factors for India is that we have received the first of the US made C–17 Globemaster III heavy-lift transport aircraft at the Hindon airbase near Delhi. With a range of 10,000 km and load carrying capacity of over 70 tonnes, the C-17 will be a significant addition to India’s trans-border strategic lift capability. Apart from the US Air Force, which operates over 200 C–17s, the Indian Air Force is the only other service in the world that now has this kind of a capability and has plans to induct a total of 10 such aircraft over a two-year period at a cost of  US $ 4 billion. Beijing will be monitoring this acquisition with interest for its politico-military significance.
In addition, the US is willing to enhance certain aspects of India’s military capability and notwithstanding the disappointment over the fighter aircraft for the Indian Air Force – the US has bagged reasonably valuable orders for providing the maritime reconnaissance aircraft for the Indian Navy and the heavy duty transport aircraft for the Indian Air Force.
The Kerry visit proved to be an opportunity for both sides to share and review their sense of accumulated disappointment and concern over what may be seen as potential that is unrealized, or expectations that have been belied. For the US it was about nuclear and military commerce that India had promised but not delivered, and a strategic partnership that is suspended due to Delhi’s reluctance to sign on to various mandatory agreements.
One could witness the texture of the Kerry-Khurshid relationship, for the two ministers were aware of the domestic political constraints under which their principals – President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh - are operating.
The best news for India is Obama’s second term has a single focus – to restore US credibility and remain engaged with the two major Asian economies, namely China and India in such a manner that US interests are protected or advanced.
For India, the US remains its most viable partner for enhancing its comprehensive national power through access to high technology, education and economic /military capacity building.
Sustained high-level political dialogue is the only means for the two democracies to deal with a range of security and strategic challenges that include the rise of China, the spread of Islamic terror and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

President Obama has rightly said that the friendship between our two nations is one of the defining partnerships of the 21st century.

Dinesh Kamath, Editor of Newsband, enjoying a sip of tea

Dinesh Kamath, Editor of Newsband, is enjoying a sip of tea after a hard day's work at the office of Daily Newspaper Newsband at Vashi in Navi Mumbai.

Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'Is third front possible?' that was published in Newsband

Is third front possible?
Nitish Kumar’s statement on the possibility of a third front minus the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party could gain a momentum of its own. This could be a ploy to deny Modi, recently named head of the BJP’s campaign committee, the further satisfaction of being promoted as a prime ministerial candidate for the 2014 Lok Sabha election.
JD (U) have little in common with the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra and the Akali Dal in Punjab. Kumar chose to hold up the possibility of teaming up with the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal and the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha, since both are uncomfortable with the BJP’s Hindutva agenda. Kumar could actually end up boosting the ambitions of several regional satraps who would like to be part of a non-Congress, non-BJP government at the Centre. Telugu Desam Party and the AIADMK could think of lending their weight to the new project.
But if you see practically, 2014 is unlikely to usher in a government without the involvement of either the Congress or the BJP. Kumar’s proposal is unlikely to go so far as to make a third front.
All Regional party chiefs are ambitious. Their ambition to rule at the centre for the sake of their own state does not serve a democratic purpose of governance in the interest of country as a whole. Moreover these leaders lack experience of being at international platform and also do not have expertise to formulate national policies. Their only one common policy is to deny power to Congress or BJP on their own.
Jayalalithaa had stated that her party will go it alone and her aim is to bag all 40 Lok Sabha seats. If at all she decides to join any political alliance, it is but natural that her party will land into Narendra Modi led NDA given the closeness of Jayalalithaa with Narendra Modi.
Can Kumar say who is projected as PM in the third front.? With a temperamental Mamata, power hungry Mayawati, eye-on-PM-seat Jayalalitha, is it an easy task to appoint a PM in the third front?
JD [U] should learn from past events. Kumar should know well that Third Front have to fully depend upon outside support of either Congress or BJP for forming the Government. In the past, Congress under Indira Gandhi did not support Charan Singh despite her promises and Charan Singh could not form the Government. Election was declared and Indira won the election to form the Government. BJP supported V. P. Singh's Government from outside and withdrew it because of Singh's plan to implement the Mandal Commission report. The Government fell, election was declared and Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated and the Congress won the election and formed the Government. Third Front enthusiastically under the leadership of Dev Gouda as PM formed the Government with the outside support of the Congress. Sitaram Kesari was instrumental to threaten the Government by withdrawing the support and ultimately withdrew it and the Government fell.

All these above events prove that third front without the support of Congress or BJP is not possible. Only Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party might succeed in defying this rule.

Dinesh Kamath's news item 'Residents are not happy with the way electric department functions' that was published in Newsband

Residents are not happy with the way electric department functions
By Dinesh Kamath

BELAPUR: The people of Navi Mumbai are discussing the functioning of electric department of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC). The focus is particularly on pre-monsoon works undertaken. The concerned employees are more bothered about the salary that is being paid to contract employees working with the department.
The residents wanted to know as to whom the maintenance contract for electric works in Belapur, Nerul and Vashi are given since they find the work done not up to their satisfaction. When they approached some political party workers they were informed that the shabby work done was owing to the very less salary that is being given to contract workers with the electric department of the civic body.
During the heavy rainfall, electric cables of housing societies were found damaged because of some digging work. NMMC authorities did not come forward to repair the damage. It was the societies themselves who had to bear the cost of repairing them. These societies are now demanding refunds for the incurred expenses.
NMMC authorities don’t seem to learn from their earlier experiences. In spite of knowing that every year during the time of monsoon there are countless problems that residents have to face, they don’t care to undertake pre-monsoon works at least three months in advance. What is the point in carrying out work when it’s already started raining?
This time too one could see open DP boxes and box on electric poles. Ideally such boxes should be at a certain height above the ground level and closed, so that children cannot reach the open wires. There is danger of children going to school touching these boxes and thus becoming victims of mishaps, especially during rains. The administration should shift the boxes to higher levels from the ground.
A corporator was of the opinion that things can improve if the maintenance contract workers with electric department are given salaries at par as their counterparts in other departments of NMMC. The decision to pay the arrears to the workers can only be taken by the municipal commissioner, he said.

A NMMC official said that whenever there is any digging work, the electric department is affected the most, as somewhere or the other the cables are damaged. He said to prevent this happening, the security deposit of the contractor should be paid only after monsoon. This will force them to do a neat job and there will be no problems during the rains, he added.

Dinesh Kamath's column 'Information about Careers' (Broadcast Journalist) that was published in Newsband

Information about Careers
By Dinesh Kamath
Broadcast Journalist

Introduction
Broadcast Journalism is the field of news and journals which are "broadcast", that is, published by electrical methods, instead of the older methods, such as printed newspapers and posters. Broadcast methods include radio (via air, cable, and Internet), television (via air, cable, and Internet), and, especially recently, the Internet generally. Such media disperse pictures (static and moving), visual text and/or sounds.
Scripts for speaking to be broadcast tend to be written differently from text to be read by the public. For instance, the former is generally less complex and more conversational. Radio and television are designed to be seen and heard sooner and more often than is a daily or weekly newspaper.
Broadcast "stories" (articles) can be written in "packages", "readers", "voice-overs" (VO) and "sound on tape" (SOT).
A "sack" is an edited set of video clips for a news story and is common on television. It is typically narrated by a reporter. It is a story with audio, video, graphics and video effects. The news anchor, or presenter, usually reads a "lead-in" (introduction) before the package is aired and may conclude the story with additional information, called a "tag".
A "reader" is an article read without accompanying video or sound. Sometimes an "over the shoulder Digital on-screen graphic" is added.
A voice-over, or VO, is a video article narrated by the anchor.
Sound on tape, or SOT, is sound and/or video, usually recorded in the field. It is usually an interview or "soundbite".
Radio
Radio was the first medium for broadcast journalism. Many of the first radio stations were co-operative community radio ventures not making a profit. Later, radio advertising to pay for programs was pioneered in radio. Later still, television displaced radio and newspapers as the main news sources for most of the public in industrialized countries.
Some of the programming on radio is locally produced; some is broadcast by a radio network, by syndication etc. The "talent" (professional voices) talk to the audience, including reading the news. People tune in to hear engaging radio personalities, music and information they want. In radio news, stories include speech soundbites, the recorded sounds of events themselves and the anchor or host.
The radio industry has undergone a radical consolidation of ownership, with fewer companies owning the thousands of stations. Large media conglomerates such as Clear Channel Communications own most of the radio stations in the United States. That has resulted in more "niche" formats and the sharing of resources within clusters of stations, de-emphasizing local news and information. There has been concern over whether that concentration of power serves the public. The opposition says that the range of political views expressed and supported is greatly narrowed and that local concerns are neglected, including local emergencies, for which communication is critical. Automation has resulted in many stations broadcasting for many hours a day with no one on the station premises.
Television
Television (TV) news is considered by many to be the most influential medium for journalism. For most of the American public, local news and national TV newscasts are the primary news sources. Not only the numbers of audience viewers, but the effect on each viewer is considered more persuasive, as described by Marshall McLuhan ("the medium is the message" in his book Understanding Media). Television is dominated by attractive visuals (including beauty, action, and shock), with short soundbites and fast "cuts" (changes of camera angle). Television journalism viewing numbers have become fragmented, with the 24-hour cable news television channels.
Local Television
The industry divides television into local and national. Such local television markets are defined by viewing area and are ranked by the number of audience viewers. New broadcast journalists generally start in the smaller markets with fewer viewers and move up to larger television stations and television networks after gaining experience. The larger stations usually have more resources and better pay.
Normally local stations typically broadcast local news 3 or 4 times a day: around 4:30, 5 or 6 am, 11, 11:30 am or noon, 5 and/or 6 pm and 10 and/or 11 at night. Most of their nightly local newscasts are 30 minutes and include sports television and weather. News anchors are shown sitting at a desk in a television studio. The news anchors read teleprompters that contain local interest stories and breaking news. Reporters frequently tell their stories outside the formal television studio in the field, where the news is occurring, in a remote broadcast setting where Electronic news-gathering (ENG) techniques are used with production trucks. Daytime television or morning shows include more "soft" news and feature pieces, while the evening news emphasizes "hard" news.
News jobs
News anchors (formerly "anchormen") serve as masters of ceremonies and are usually shown facing a professional video camera in a television studio while reading unseen teleprompters. The anchors are often in pairs (co-anchors), sit side by side, often alternating their reading. Meteorologists stand in front of chroma key backgrounds to describe weather forecasting and show "graphics" (maps, charts and pictures). Any of those people can become the most recognizable television personality of the television station. Reporters research and write the stories and sometimes use video editing to prepare the story for air into a "package". Reporters are usually engaged in Electronic field production (EFP) and are accompanied by a videographer at the scenes of the news; the latter holds the camera. That person or assistants manage the audio and lighting. They are in charge of setting up live television shots and might edit using a non-linear editing system (NLE) too. The segment producer might choose, research and write stories, as well as deciding the timing and arrangement of the newscast. An associate producer, if any, might specialize in elements of the show such as graphics.
Production jobs
A newscast director is in charge of television show preparation, including assigning camera and talent (cast) positions on the set, as well as selecting the camera shots and other elements for either recorded or live television video production. The Television Director (TD) operates the video switcher, which controls and mixes all the elements of the show. At smaller stations, the Director and Technical Director are the same person.
A graphics operator operates a character generator (CG) that produces the lower third on-screen titles and full-page digital on-screen graphics. The audio technician operates the audio mixing console. The technician is in charge of the microphones, music and audio tape. Often, production assistants operate the teleprompters and professional video cameras and serve as lighting and rigging technicians ("grips").
On-line convergence

Convergence is the sharing and cross-promoting of content from a variety of media, which in theory might all converge and become one medium eventually. In broadcast news, the Internet is key part of convergence. Frequently, broadcast journalists also write text stories for the Web, usually accompanied by the graphics and sound of the original story. Websites offer the audience an interactive form where they can learn more about a story, can be referred to related articles, can offer comments for publication and can print stories at home, etc. Technological convergence also lets newsrooms collaborate with other media. Broadcast outlets sometimes have partnerships with their print counterparts.

Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'Absence of a Brahmin leader makes Modi the best choice' that was published in Newsband

Absence of a Brahmin leader makes Modi the best choice
The mutinous Lal Krishna Advani has retreated, leaving Narendra Modi’s supporters to rejoice and glory in their victory. In other words, the conqueror in the Advani-Modi battle is not either of them but the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the BJP’s real ‘high command’. The episode left Mr. Advani, once beloved of the Sangh, a bitter man, and in his resignation letter he lashed out at the supra body for not leaving the BJP alone.
Mr. Modi’s popularity with the party cadre may have earned him the role of campaign committee chief but it is to the RSS that he will remain beholden for getting there. The next step, or getting the nomination to run for Prime Minister, will be more difficult for two reasons. The RSS has promised Mr. Advani a say in the decision. Secondly, the BJP’s allies will be more watchful than ever, knowing that what possibly awaits them is an RSS-Modi combination.
BJP is a political arm of RSS, used in its multi decade programme of creating a nation based on their idea of Hindu civilisation. Guru Golwalkar's "We or Our Nationhood Defined" is the Holy Book of RSS and BJP. In “We or Our Nation defined (1938)”, he stated: "The non-Hindu people of Hindustan must either adopt Hindu culture and language, must learn and respect and hold in reverence the Hindu religion, must entertain no idea but of those of glorification of the Hindu race and culture ... In a word they may stay in the country, wholly subordinated to the Hindu nation, claiming nothing, deserving no privileges, far less any preferential treatment—not even citizens' rights".
The main problem here is Modi is hated by many Hindus themselves.  Why? Maybe because he is not a Brahmin. But in absence of a Brahmin leader, Modi is the best choice. After several decades, people are placing hope on a single person to bring real development to the country. Why are many Hindus so seriously against this person?
Modi is loved and venerated because he has assumed the role of psychological defender of religion and culture - educated and well placed people too find a spiritual reason to recognise him - he is succeeding in impressing the intellectuals too. He has turned out to be today's mythological hero that Indians love to have every decade at least!
RSS is a Hindu organization and its political wing is BJP - what is wrong with that? The BJP is not a religious party like the Muslim league - but it is Hindu majority party - there is nothing wrong with that. What is wrong is not to question the credentials of a party openly labelled "Muslim League". Why do you allow an openly religious party like the Muslim League to function?
So what if in BJP, the ideological conclusion is left to the Sangh which rose with "cultural nationalistic" ambitions? Isn't Congress, which proudly boasts itself to be the oldest democratic party, revolving around the "High Command" which mostly have no ideology on which its decisions are based?

What's wrong in BJP having RSS as the Head? Every political party, in fact a person is based on an ideology. Yes, some aspects of the RSS might be communal. But it is better than a Party like Congress whose ideology is not clearly known.

First love in anyone’s life holds a special place especially if the memory is filled with the vibrant musings of the city that you grew up in. Benaras holds a special place in Kundan’s heart, because not only did he grow up as a typical, god fearing, shiv bhakt-Pandit but also because it was the city that gave him Zoya.
Quiet, beautiful with mischievous eyes, Zoya was the girl of his dreams. She was alike a breath of fresh air the first time he saw her on the busy streets, sitting regally in a Tonga. He would follow her everyday to the bazaar, back to her house till one day he mustered the courage to speak to her and tell her his true feelings - his 13year old heart, smitten by her simplicity.
She of course didn't take him seriously and brushed him off. Time passed by and Zoya moved to Delhi to study further. Love they say is a feeling that only grows stronger with time and Kundan’s love for Zoya never diminished, he carried his feeling all through college and his heart flipped when Zoya came back to his town.
With Zoya back in Benaras, Kundan’s world was filled with excitement as he was thinking of finally telling her as to how he felt. Zoya finally met Kundan and confessed her true feelings to him. She was in LOVE! She was in love with Akram, a college friend from Delhi university and he was the love of her life and she wanted Kundan’s help in marrying him.
His world shattered and his heart broke a million pieces, the rage that Kundan felt was inexplicable. He was torn between his true feelings for Zoya and his hearts pleas to help her get her true love because who could understand that pain better than him.
He sets out to unite her with Akram and what follows is a tale of love, betrayal, redemption and healing set against the very rooted town of Benaras and the upbeat political environs of Delhi.
Thus Ranjhana is the story of Kundan, his journey from a 13 year old boy in love who goes on to become a committed, spirited young man, who’s experiences in life made him the person he is today. It’s the story of love.
