promises to discuss NMIA project with higher ups

NAVI MUMBAI: Planning Commission deputy chairman Montek Singh
Ahluwalia on Thursday assured the state he would take up issues of pending
clearances in major projects with the ministries and departments concerned,
including the Navi Mumbai international airport (NMIA) project, for which a
meeting would be set up with the forest ministry to clear hurdles in the
development of 25-km green land.
On
Thursday, the National Wildlife Board has given its nod for the project. The
clearance was vital as the Karnala Bird Sanctuary is close to the proposed
airport periphery.
During Thursday's meeting, the state made a
