Police unable
to trace the whereabouts of Bijlani
By Dinesh Kamath
NAVI MUMBAI: Builder Suresh Bijlani who is the prime accused in
Navi Mumbai builder Sunil Lahoria murder case has once again gone absconding. The
Supreme Court had directed the Mumbai police to immediately arrest him.
In
May, the session court as well the Bombay
high court had rejected his anticipatory bail saying there is no provision of
anticipatory bail in a murder case. Bijlani brought the Indore court's order which granted him
interim relief on the grounds that his father was ailing. This was just a week
after crime branch had filed the chargesheet.
Lahoria's
son Sandeep alias Sunny had moved a special leave petition challenging the Indore high Court's last
week order. On Wednesday morning the double bench stayed Indore HC's order and
directed the Mumbai police to arrest him.
Bijlani
earlier had made a statement to a newspaper saying that he has been framed in the
case as in dying declaration Lahoria did not take his name since he was so
seriously injured that he could not speak.
According
to a source, Bijlani might surrender before the Mumbai crime branch but police are
not able to trace him in spite of the fact that he had appeared last week with
the Indore court's transit anticipatory bail and was regularly seen visiting
the crime branch office at Crawford Market.
