NAVI MUMBAI: Smilie Suri, who debuted with the movie Kalyug, has
accused a Navi Mumbai-based kennel of abusing her dogs - Mambo, a spotted Fox
Terrier and Magic, a cross between a stray and miniature pincher.
On
May 15, Suri left her dogs in a kennel, Canine Solutions, till the end of the
month, as she had to go out of the city for a shoot. She had heard good things
about Canine Solutions, so she registered her dogs with them. Suri paid an
advance of Rs 7,000, which was later returned, and the two dogs were picked up
by the owner of Canine Solutions, Manoor Sachdev. The kennel housed 33 more
dogs at the time.
On
May 28, Suri was informed over the phone, first by Manoor and then by a local
veterinarian, that Mambo was very ill and had been diagnosed with a
neurological imbalance. Suri was shocked. She then immediately left for Mumbai.
By
the time Suri came back, her pets were in such bad condition that they were
unrecognisable. Mambo couldn't even walk. He dragged himself towards Suri and
collapsed. He cried entire night. Both dogs were in shock. Suri has already
spent around Rs 60,000 on their treatment. She has now lost faith in the
kennel.
The
people in charge of the kennel refuse to admit that it is their fault. They do
feel sorry for the state the two dogs are in. The kennel also put up a post on
their Facebook page, expressing "heartfelt" regret for the incident.
