NAVI MUMBAI: Member of Parliament Sanjeev Naik has failed
to keep many promises that he had made to the electorate and in the process he
has lost a connect with the constituency. The Aam Aadmi Party has taken
advantage of this fact and has registered 50,000 members in the area and it can
upset Naik’s calculations.
Incumbent
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Thane Member of Parliament Sanjeev Naik will
have to take some drastic steps to prevent himself from losing his seat. Will he
be able to do that?
Naik is not able
to control the internal party differences and is losing hold over the voter
base which had voted him to the position of MP five years back.
Maharashtra
Navnirman Sena, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Shiv Sena are proving to be an
headache for Naik since these parties’ common goal is not to allow Naik retain
his seat in Thane.
Thane Lok Sabha
Constituency was a place where once Shiv Sena had a stronghold. But, however, during
the last elections, Sanjeev Naik happened to score a surprising victory over
strong Shiv Sena candidate Vijay Chowgule. His victory was attributed to
presence of an MNS candidate in the fray and also the solid hold that his
father Ganesh Naik had developed over Navi Mumbai during the time of elections.
This time, the
Sena leadership does not wish to take any chance and has chosen a formidable
candidate, sitting MLA Rajan Vichare, to contest against Naik in the
forthcoming Lok Sabha election. It is left to be seen whether Vichare can help
Sena to regain their lost ground.
