NAVI MUMBAI: Citizens
of all faiths, churches and institutions are to join hands together to stop
hate campaign and focus on development and good governance under ‘We Are One'
on Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 6.00 pm to 6.15 pm
There have been an increasing number of crimes perpetrated
on the minorities and communalization of the country by certain groups.
"We expect the Government must take responsibility
and strongly admonish individuals and groups who are creating communal divide
in the country. Make plans to curb religious extremism of all shades in the
countries. Punish those responsible for attacks on minorities and their
institutions, which is also an attack on the multi-cultural body politic of
India. Swift, transparent and credible trial and punishment for all those
involved in such activities whatever the religion they may profess" said
Albun Dsouza, Chairman, Bombay Catholic Sabha, Koperkhairne.
Talking to Dr. Jayakar Ellis, General Secretary - India,
National Christian Council, he said "Citizens at large are pained at the
developments and wish to express their hurt feelings. Hence the Human Chain is
being planned as a form of Peaceful Protest and send a strong message to the
government to address the situation."
"The purpose of the Human Chain to express to one
and all that Unity in the country is of paramount importance for the progress
and peace of its citizen. Divisive politics and communalization of the country
is taking the country backward. Too many hate campaigns and statements
(including vandalisation of Churches) have been made in the last two and a half
months that is hurting the peaceful nature of our country" he added.
"Since White is a colour symbolizing peace,
participants of the Human Chain will be wearing white as part of their attire
for the Human Chain as far as possible. The area of human chain would be from
Vashi to Airoli passing Ghansoli and Rabale" said Satyaprakash Pandey, a
resident of Koper Khairne.
"We, the people of Navi Mumbai and the rest of India
who have seen hatred and bloodshed in our city, pledge that we will not give in
to demonization of religions and to those who preach war, violence, hatred and
intolerance. We undertake to keep our city peaceful and united. We commit to
building a world based on the principles of tolerance and peace, equality and
justice" said Adv. Fr. Sushant Mantri, Incharge, Bombay Catholic Sabha,
(Navi Mumbai Deanery).
