NMMC hurrying up to make the
new civic hospitals functional
By Dinesh Kamath
NAVI MUMBAI: Navi
Mumbai Municipal Corporation is in a hurry to make the hospitals in Nerul,
Airoli and Belapur adquately equipped before the elections so that the chances
of the ruling party in the civic body are not affected in the municipal
elections that will soon take place. The civic body was quick enough to finish
the construction of these three hospitals and even get them inaugurated. But
when it came to equipping these hospitals with adequate amenities and staff,
the civic body was found to be lagging behind.
Nerul civic hospital is the biggest of the three
with 100 beds. But the hospital is still in need of adequate furnitures and
medical gas pipeline system (MGPS). The hospital even requires sufficient
medical equipments. NMMC is eager to make these hospitals function smoothly
like Vashi civic hospital. The Nationalist Congress Party which is ruling in
NMMC is applying pressure on NMMC authorities to make these hospitals
functional before the forthcoming municipal elections. NMMC authorities are
hurrying up to implement the orders of NCP leaders and make the hospital
functional at the earliest.
