Awards

NAVI MUMBAI: During
the golden jubilee celebration of Association of State Road Transport
Undertaking (ASRTU) at Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi, Navi Mumbai Municipal
Transport was conferred upon two ASTRU Productivity Awards 2013-14 for
excelling in two fields – one for use of every bus per km and use of bus tyre
for every lakh km. The awards were accepted by Navi Mumbai Municipal
Corporation’s Additional Commissioner Dr Sanjay Pattiwar and Transport
Management’s Shirish Aradwad from the hands of Central Heavy Industries
Division’s Secretary Ambuj Sharma and ASTRU’s working director Anand Rao.
The silver jubilee of ASTRU was celebrated by organizing
two days international seminar on 13 and 14 August 2015. Central Transport
Minister Nitin Gadkari and Central Heavy Industry Minister Anant Gite were
present for this International Seminar which was also attended by Navi Mumbai
Municipal Commissioner Dinesh Waghmare, Additional Commissioner Dr Sanjay
Pattiwar and Transport Management’s Shirish Aradwad and so also transport
ministers and secretaries of various states. International level experts were
also present for this seminar.
Earlier, NMMC had stood third in the ‘Cleanest city in
the country’ and first in ‘Cleanest city in the state’ contests. Navi Mumbai
was also declared as one of the 10 smart cities in the State. NMMT winning the
two ASTRU Awards has added one more feather to the city’s cap.
NMMT authorities and employees were congratulated by Navi
Mumbai’s Mayor Sudhakar Sonawane, deputy mayor Avinash Lad, standing committee
chairman Netra Shirke, leader of the house Jaiwant Sutar, opposition party
leader Vijay Chougule, transport chairman Sabu Daniel, all the office bearers,
corporators and municipal commissioner Dinesh Waghmare for winning the two
National Awards.
