NAVI MUMBAI: There
was a talk show on Navi Mumbai local channel ‘Navi Mumbai Awaz’. The subject
was ‘Communal Harmony’ in which representatives of various communities
participated and discussed on this sensitive issue. G. Mohiuddin Jeddy, Editor-in-chief,
Navi Mumbai Awaaz, anchored this show and others who participated were Dr.
Jayakar Ellis, General Secretary, National Christian Council – Editor, Christian
Observer, Rajesh Prajapati, Chairman and Managing Director, Prajapati group, Ali
M. Shamsi, President, Markaz-E-Falah, Founder and former chairman Konkan Bank
and Kesar Singh, Former president, New Bombay Punjabi Association.
The discussion focused on how some of our politicians,
just for their personal advantage, make use of issues which cause communal
disturbances. The participants of this talk show strongly felt that Indian
masses should learn to ignore those politicians’ remarks which can spark off communal
disturbances. All the participants felt relieved about one fact which was
relating to communal situation in Navi Mumbai. They were happy about the fact
that there was never any case of communal disharmony in Navi Mumbai anytime in
the past and this type of normal situation, they felt, should be maintained even
in the future.
