Problems Galore
It is good to make speed breakers on a road with heavy traffic. Speed breakers do prevent accidents. But they have negative effects too. It causes lot of noise pollution to the residents living around, particularly for those who stay in the flats adjoining to the road which has speed breakers. These residents indeed feel relieved that no major accidents take place anymore on that road but the vehicles, particularly the container trucks, when crossing the speed breakers make a huge noise leaving the residents very much disturbed through the day and causing sleepless nights. CIDCO and NMMC authorities should find a way out to tackle this particular problem. CIDCO authorities have a done a very good job of planting trees in some parts of the city. There are some special trees planted at this location. These trees emit a unique fragrance during evening time in winter season. But at the same time these trees leaves catch some infection and flowers don't blossom. CIDCO authorities should treat these trees and save the green belt in Navi Mumbai. Another problem is irregular issuance of telephone bills. Some consumers of the city are not getting their monthly telephone bills on time and due to this problem they are not able to pay the bill in stipulated time limit. MTNL authorities should therefore see to it that the bills are distributed regularly and on time so that the consumers can pay their bills on time and thus prevent their telephone lines from getting disconnected. MTNL should improve the bill distribution system. Hawkers are seen squatting on the footpath in some parts of Navi Mumbai. They have taken most of the footpath and have made it very difficult for commuters to walk on these footpaths, and thus forced them to walk on the streets. These hawkers even create traffic problems. It seems that hawkers continue with their business with help of the local corporators and police. NMMC should pay attention to this problem too and solve it. The Maharashtra Gas had started pipeline work at certain places. These works were abandoned midway and the dug up areas and the exposed pipes are kept unattended. The open pits and pipes jutting above the ground level can be a source of serious accidents. This problem too urgently needs to be solved. Thus these are some of the many problems faced by residents of Navi Mumbai and they need urgent attention of concerned authorities.
