Dinesh Kamath's Editorial 'When will India be the part of FIFA World Cup?' that was published in Newsband

When will India be the part of FIFA World Cup?
The FIFA World Cup has been attracting people from all over the world since a long time. The current edition has been particularly transfixing. This has been a World Cup committed to attacking. The tournament has also had a wealth of storylines. It had intense pressing and ruthless counter-attacking. It also proved that football often makes fools of the very intelligent, and occasionally, millionaires of the very foolish.
The number of football followers all around the world is more than for any other game. Particularly this edition has attracted a lot of people with the goal rates and the act of cannibalism. The game has such a huge fan base it bothers billions around the world. Since, even low fan base games like cricket has adapted to some high end technologies to avoid umpiring errors, FIFA could think of some means to reduce bad referee calls. This time the tournament witnessed underdogs getting top the table, which is also one of the reasons why this edition has been more interesting than its predecessors.
Football is a simple game. The team which sends more balls into opponents goal, wins the match. So simple that so many intentional and non intentional wrong calls by umpire and/or his line men can make many fans feel disgusted, budding players suffering and intelligent men wonder about the waste of money for a manipulated game. The technology or intelligent techniques are not still being employed by the FIFA. A three judge panel with TV cameras can over rule and help the judge of the field when he is likely to make wrong calls in penalty calls, expulsions and yellow cards. People may think this will kill the dynamism of the football. But it will not happen as the game can continue and only called back when the penalty or expulsion is made. Yellow cards can be made invalid if the referees are provided with electronic notebook.
Another great thing about the current edition of this tournament is that this is the first time that two African teams have entered the quarterfinals. Nigeria and Algeria went through. Ivory Coast and Ghana had a close chance Kudos to the continent, which are called third world countries. There is war, hunger and so many problems. Yet they managed to stand shoulder to shoulder with the developed nations. That is the beauty of football - the spirit of the game. Exit of some big names from this world cup has made it more exciting; it will be nice to see how others perform. It will be very exciting to watch teams who outperformed to outcast some big names. Lets see how good challenge they throw against some big names who are still there in the tournament. But still the game remains so thrilling as usual. This has been the best world cup. Even the so called underdogs did so well.
Football too has become a game of glorious uncertainties, thanks to the intense competition, strategies the teams are adopting and the technology, making the field wide open and all the more interesting. With all this, If the performance of some of the players is still not unpredictable, it is because of their out of the world talent and consistency, which are legendary. The intense competition not withstanding, hope the game will bring the world together!

It is long cherished desire of many Indians to see India play the FIFA world cup. Wish India also makes a foray into football. Here there is too much attention and money into cricket alone.
