Mukesh Ambani to come up with world-class education hub in Navi Mumbai?
By Dinesh Kamath

NAVI MUMBAI: It has been revealed by a source from Reliance Industry that industrialist Mukesh Ambani has decided to develop the campus on a plot measuring over 400 acres at Ulwe. The education hub will be in collaboration with world-renowned universities like Cambridge, Oxford and Harvard. Ambani and his close aide, Anand Jain, jointly own this land.
This particular land was meant for a special economic zone but now it has been decided that it will be used for education hub with state-of-the-art facilities. The state’s revised industrial policy states that the land has been ‘unlocked’ and hence Ambani is free to use it for educational hub.
A blueprint relating to this project will soon come up. Mukesh Ambani’s wife, Nita, will be closely monitoring the development of the education hub. Nita’s ambition is to make this hub equivalent to best world universities.
In the past, Ambani had expressed his desire to set up a “world-class, multi-disciplinary university” in Maharashtra. Now it seems he is all set to translate his words into reality.
The education hub will offer comprehensive, all-round education – from kindergarten to research. The education will be innovative and students will have wide scope to conduct research on anything that interests them. This proposed education hub will help nurture talent. This university will also be in a position to meet industry demand by providing required engineering talent.
The education hub will be autonomous. Both western and eastern culture and talent will come together here. Courses in science, arts and professional streams, will be offered.
Ambani had to drop his idea of constructing a skyscraper over here since the land came under the ‘flying zone’ of the proposed Navi Mumbai International Airport. He has now decided to use the place to develop the international education hub.

The plans are still in the nascent stage. Things are being worked out. Nothing concrete has yet been arrived at. But the possibility of Mukesh Ambani coming up with this education hub seems to be very bright.
