Chemical
factory catches fire, suffers heavy loss
By Dinesh Kamath
NAVI MUMBAI: A Cosmetic factory at Taloja MIDC caught fire on
Saturday night. The name of the factory is Chemspac Chemical Plant. The fire
took a gigantic form and the firemen had a tough time in bringing the fire
under control.
There were chemicals stored in
the factory and these chemicals which were worth crores of rupees went up in
air. A major portion of the factory was gutted in the fire. There were sounds
of huge explosion of drums containing chemicals emanating from the factory
which was engulfed in fire.
Fire brigade officials from
Panvel, ONGC, Kalamboli and CIDCO did rush to the spot along with their
machineries and they had to battle it out to bring the fire under control and
later to extinguish it. They made use of water and foam of nearby Asian Paints
and Aftotech chemical plants to prevent the fire from spreading.
Thus it was a horrible sight for the people who
gathered outside in big number.
