Will
Ajit Pawar be asked to resign?
By Dinesh Kamath
NAVI MUMBAI: Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president
Manikrao Thakre today said that ally NCP has to consider the demand for Deputy
Chief Minister Ajit Pawar's resignation over his controversial remarks on
drought and load-shedding.
It is left to be seen whether Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan
will ask his deputy to quit in wake of Opposition stalling the proceedings of
the Budget session of the state Legislature for three days demanding Pawar's
resignation.
Thakre spoke to the press when he had arrived in Navi Mumbai for
the inauguration of the two-day workshop.
When asked if the focus on language had anything to do with Ajit
Pawar's controversial comments, Thakre said that correct use of language is a
must. He further said that Ajit Pawar was the only one who had used such kind
of language in public.
Thakre said Pawar has already apologized thrice for his remarks
and there is no question of Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan tendering an
apology.
Opposition BJP and Shiv Sena have been gunning for Pawar over
his controversial and irresponsible statement relating to the tragedy of
Maharashtra's farmers who are facing one of the worst droughts in decades.
Now it is left to be seen whether Ajit Pawar will be asked to
resign or whether he will be allowed to continue.
