Prajapati
asks authorities to stop unauthorized construction
By Dinesh Kamath
NAVI MUMBAI: Rajesh Prajapati, president of Property
developers' body MCHI CREDAI's Raigad unit has written to the various
authorities drawing their attention to the menace of unauthorized construction
which is going on literally unchecked.
He wrote this letter after the last week’s accident in which an
unauthorized seven-storey building in Mumbra near Mumbai collapsed leading to
the death of 74 persons.
In the letter, Prajapati expressed his shock over the fact that
village panchayats are issuing permissions for construction that too by
charging exorbitant rates though they are not authorized to do so.
He failed to understand the logic behind the fact that the
higher authorities and revenue officials simply ignore this dangerous happening.
The copies of the letter have been sent to the Chief Minister, The Urban
Development Secretary, and to the Managing Director of CIDCO.
MCHI CREDAI - Raigad unit has received the copy of a forward
letter from Mantralaya to the district collector asking him to look into the
complaints.
