NAVI MUMBAI: Navi Mumbai police arrested two men for replacing medicines with salt while transporting the medicines from Delhi to Mumbai. The medicines were worth Rs. 41 lakh.
CBD Belapur-based V Express, a transport company, was given the contract for transporting the medicines from Gurgaon to Mumbai. Driver Sunil Singh and a cleaner were to bring the consignment. They left from Gurgaon for Mumbai but on the way Sunil Singh replaced the medicines by salt.
The consignment was later sent to the various clients it was meant for. When the bags were opened by the client, they were shocked to see that it contained salt and not medicines. They complained to the transport company which in turn lodged a complaint against Singh at the police station.
The police took aside Singh and interrogated them. Singh confessed to the crime and also admitted that he had sold the medicine for Rs 1 lakh to Gupta in Udaipur. Both Singh and Gupta were arrested and criminal cases were registered against them.
