NIFT, Mumbai’s Fashion
Design Jury Day 2013

KHARGHAR: National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Mumbai one of the premier institutes in Fashion
education conducted their Fashion Design department Jury Day on 15th May 2013
at the institute’s Kharghar Campus. The event had 33 of the graduating batch
students from Fashion Design department showcasing their collections in diverse
themes.
The
Jury Panel comprised of eminent dignitaries from the fashion fraternity like
Designer Archana Kochhar, Designer Dilnaz, Ratnakar-Design Mangaer Pantaloons,
Atul Apte-Design Head Park Avenue and Ms.Shipi-Design Director Globus. The
collections were marked on the grounds of good designs which were a blend of
creativity and function. This evaluation was also a part of the student’s final
semester.
Some
of the outstanding collections showcased were ‘Code of facets’ by Mohit Pratap
Singh. Kothiyal came up with an interesting collection ‘KITSCH’ which talks
about the dilemma and anxiety of a newly wedded bride. Pooja Upadhyay, winner
of Triumph Inspiration Award 2012, put forth collection named ‘A 21ST Century
Billet-Doux’.
Speaking
on the occasion Monika Aggarwal, Associate Professor, Fashion Design Deptt
excitedly states, “Students are encouraged to work in open learning
environment. The academic core which is the fashion design is designed to
facilitate multi disciplinary study that assimilates aesthetics of industrial
dynamics across levels of discipline. Innovation is an important tool for
successful design.
The
collections of the students will also be showcased on the Graduation Day Event
2013 scheduled on the 25th May 2013 at NCPA, Nariman Point.
It
is clear that NIFT, Mumbai students continue to strive to be nothing but the
best!
