Dinesh Kamath's old article on Neha Dhupia that was published in Newsband

Neha Dhupia flits effortlessly between big budget bonanzas and small productions. There are actors who don't get out of their Barbie Doll avatars, but that's not who Neha is. If you see her career graph you'll notice that she has also played glam roles from time to time. An example is Action Replayy. But she dares to do something different. She takes the chance. She doesn't want to be one of those actors who sit and regret her career choices later in life.
What's also exciting for the actor is the fact that she is also doing a Telugu flick, Parama Veera Chakra, with Balakrishna and Ameesha Patel. She has said yes to this film at a time when she has exciting B-Town projects. As an actor she has no hang ups whatsoever about cinema. It can be mainstream, art, regional or national. The time is perfect for her to cement her reputation in the industry as an actor known for her performance.
A few days back, Rimple and Harpreet Narula, had launched their second outlet – Theatre – in the capital. The store was inaugurated by actress Neha Dhupia and was followed by a fashion show and an after party held at Emperor's Kitchen. Neha looked splendid in a dark purple gown.
When Neha was asked as to which was the one actor in Bollywood she would like to rob as a dacoit, her answer was Shah Rukh Khan since he has the maximum money.
In Phas Gaye Re Obama, she has done everything that a hero does in the movie – including abusing and firing guns. Also, her gang performs murders and gang rape. She has done everything in the film.
Neha was asked as to what message she would give Obama if given a chance. She answered that she would just tell him to watch her two-hour long movie whenever he had time. She also expressed her wish to take Obama out for a date, let him watch her film and talk about the recession. In the entertainment industry for a decade now, Neha has craved for striking a balance between commercial and offbeat films. She doesn't go around knocking the doors of filmmakers now. She looks for great scripts that she can say yes to. Neha is not overtly fussy about things but then she won't jump into something just for the sake of it.
Neha had a miniscule role to play in the film Action Replayy. In Singh Is Kinng and De Dana Dan her co-star was Akshay Kumar. She had managed to make a good impression despite playing a second lead to Katrina Kaif. Phas Gaye Re Obama too has fetched her a favourable judgment.
Neha is one of the most stylish beauties in Bollywood. She looks good in anything and everything.
Neha was once a part of the famous show on Sony TV, Comedy Circus Ka Jadoo. She was a special guest for this show. She spread her magic on the stage as she promoted her film Phas Gaye Re Obama through the comedy show which was a perfect platform to promote her comedy movie.
A film on the life of Hitler titled 'My Dear Hitler' was announced in Bollywood. The writer of the film Nalin Singh, who also plays the role of Joseph Goebbels (Hitler's right hand), has chosen Raghubir to play the role of Hitler. He suits Hitler's body type and height. In fact, before the shooting started, he dressed up as Hitler and talked and behaved like Hitler. Neha is also chosen to play a role in the movie. She will be playing Eva Braun, who chose to live in with Hitler but decided to marry a day before they die. She is hot, sexy and beautiful – a perfect actor with the western looks. She decides to celebrate life rather than mourn for death. She is the partner with Hitler but she has also nothing to do with Hitler's political decisions. Interestingly there is a hot smooching scene between Hitler and Eva in the film, before they marry. Raghubir Yadav did not rehearse for that and gave the kissing shot with Neha in one take. Neha never imagined that she would get to play the part. It's a very challenging role and there are so many actors who have the potential to play the part since it gives a new dimension to any female actor. But the film director wanted Neha to do it. Neha had also thought that she was too urban and too much of a city girl to play the role. But once she got into it, she started thinking differently.
After her crowning as a beauty queen 2002, Neha made her way into films with the Ajay Devgn-starrer Qayamat – City Under Threat. After that she was seen in Julie and Sheesha as well as commercial hits like Kyaa Kool Hai Hum, Garam Masala, Singh is Kinng and Shootout at Lokhandwala. Neha also tried her hand in non-commercial movies like Delhii Heights, Mithya and Ek Chalis Ki Last Local. Neha, who has experimented with both mainstream and offbeat films simultaneously, believes one should not miss any opportunity to show off one's acting skills.
For Neha, the fun part of being an actor is that she gets different roles. She is lucky. And most importantly, she feels she should attempt everything now. She believes that she has one life, one career and very few choices – if she doesn't make the most of it, then there is really no fun in what she does.
Thus Neha shows promise of scaling still greater heights in Bollywood. Let's wish her best of luck!
