Dinesh Kamath's old article on Sonkshi Sinha that was published in Newsband

Sonakshi Sinha, along with Katrina Kaif and Vidya Balan, was accused of spreading vulgarity in the society. A Muzaffarpur-based lawyer filed the complaint petition in the court against these three cine stars. He filed complaint petition against Katrina for the song 'Sheela Ki Jawani' and against Vidya Balan and Sonakshi for posing for vulgar photographs in a fashion magazine. The judge said that the court would look into the complaint.
Karan Johar and his show 'Koffee with Karan' are making Bollywood babes go crazy to spend some time on the couch chatting with him. Karan was looking for someone from the younger lot of heroines that would be the right gal to sit along with dancing diva Madhuri Dixit and chat with him. He wanted the perfect gal who could add a bit of zing to his show for the Madhuri episode. Karan finalized on Dabangg debutant Sonakshi Sinha. It is going to be this lucky damsel who's going to accompany the diva to make it a great show to remember and cherish.
Actor-politico Shatrughan Singha's daughter Sonakshi is frontrunner for most awards in the country for best debut. The doting dad wants Sonakshi to never forget one thing ever – and that's to stay grounded. He feels proud to accompany his daughter on the stage when she's receiving an award. He has always advised her to be level-headed and keep her feet on the ground.
Sonakshi admits that there couldn't have been a better platform for making her debut on screen than Dabangg. She is thankful to Arbaaz Khan, producer, for considering her fit to play a role opposite Salman Khan. She is grateful to director Abhinav Sinha for holding her hand and treating her like a younger sister while she was learning the ropes of acting. But the biggest contribution to her career in Bollywood will always be that of her co-star Salman Khan. She is in Bollywood because of him. He discovered and convinced her that she is the one he was looking for. She owes a lot to him and is glad that he made her find the actor in her.
Sonakshi plans to take to charitable causes in a big way, and is considering taking up the cause of promoting women's education in India. She might associate herself in a bigger way with Wave, an NGO that is working towards the welfare of women from the lower stratum of the society. Sonakshi will be a part of the endeavour in a big way.
It is always an honour for a debutant to make her way straight into the Top-10 charts. In that context, Sonakshi is really fortunate as she had a Dabangg to her name in her very first big screen experience. Although Dabangg wasn't quite a film that allowed her to show multiple facets of her acting personality, it was a positive start for her. Now it is up to her to build a career from this point on.
Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai had all gone reed thin for their respective films Tees Maar Khan, Tashan and Dhoom 2. In fact, Bollywood was reeling under the size zero trend and every young girl was plagued by it. But finally, actress Sonakshi broke this mould and she established herself as an A-list actress who can make it big without getting wafer thin. She made a fantastic debut in Salman Khan starrer Dabangg where her fuller, rounder and voluptuous figure was well accepted by the masses. In fact, she epitomized the traditional Indian girl look with her full figure and brought voluptuousness back into the business. And Sonakshi feigns no modesty and takes full credit for this. Though, she never set out to spawn a fashion trend, she has unintentionally ended up doing so. And she is pretty proud of breaking the size zero culture. She cites that she has received accolades for her full-fledged Indian look and she is extremely happy with her body. She has no desire to cut that flab and is more than content with her meaty body. After all, Indian men have often desired fuller women and Sonakshi is a perfect heroine material in that regard.
23 year old Sonakshi is being flooded with offers. Already her kitty is full. She is doing Shirish Kunder's next project Joker opposite Akshay Kumar. She has bagged a meaty role in the sequel Race 2 directed by Abbas-Mustan. Next is an action-comedy opposite mentor Salman Khan in Kick and another project with the Khan directed by Prabhu Deva. All the other A-listed directors are eager to sign the lady for their future projects and she seems to be holding her forte pretty well.
When quizzed about the dream role, Sonakshi was candid and revealed that she would love to reprise the roles of Vidya Balan in Parineeta, Rani Mukherjee in Black, Kareena Kapoor in Jab We Met and of Aishwarya Rai in Jodha Akbar. Sonakshi is itching to play these roles. These are powerful, women-oriented roles and any newbie would dream of playing such impactful characters some day.
Just recently, a handful of stars arrived for the special screening of Kiran Rao's Dhobi Ghat. Sonakshi was also invited. She was no doubt thrilled by the invitation. The actress looked radiant in her minimal makeup and casual gear.
Sonakshi, Aruna Shields and Barbara Mori are the three new B-town women who made men too weak in their knees. While Sonakshi is here to stay, the fate of Barbara and Aruna depends on producers' whims.
Thus, after a Dabangg debut in Bollywood, Sonakshi has made waves in B-town. Her Rajjo act robbed hearts of many and has helped Sonakshi bag important big banner projects, despite her saying no to skin show. Sonakshi has undoubtedly become the emerging new face of 'B' Town after blockbuster Dabangg's huge success. Congrats, Sonakshi!
