Accused helped by his wife to flee, wife arrested

MUMBAI: Nishi Patil
(20), the wife of murder accused Hanumant Patil alias Prem (24), had assisted
her husband to escape from the hands of police when he was admitted to Vashi
municipal hospital. The police arrested her for helping the accused flee. She
has been remanded to judicial custody.
Prem was in Taloja jail. On March 9,
Prem was admitted to Vashi municipal hospital by Taloja jail officials since he
complained of having fallen ill. When he had gone to the toilet, he managed to
escape from there without the knowledge of the police. It seems that Nishi was
waiting for him outside the hospital and as soon as he escaped he met her. She gave
him her gold bangles and an ATM card and asked him to flee.
The police, during investigation, came
to know about this fact and they immediately arrested Nishi, made her appear in
the court where she was remanded to judicial custody. They are still hunting
for Prem who is absconding.
