Developments in Loharia murder case
By Dinesh Kamath
NAVI MUMBAI: The VIP car with a red beacon slowing down on the road in the CCTV footage of the murderous attack on builder S K Loharia in Vashi was that of Thane’s Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik.
Ganesh Naik’s personal aide Sachin Desai was in the car. He was on his way to fetch bouquet to present it to NCP chief Sharad Pawar who was to visit Navi Mumbai on that day. Sachin Desai happened to witness the murder of Loharia taking place and he even got down from the car and with the help of some other men he managed to lift injured Loharia and put him in an autorickshaw. He was also the first one to call up the Navi Mumbai police.
Another development in the Loharia murder case was the arrest of the small-time contractor from Mumbra and an estate agent from Ambernath. In the plot to murder Loharia, they were supposed to be a part of other team who were put on standby just in case the main hit team of Venkatesh Shettiar and Wajid Qureshi did not succeed in killing Loharia.
Lastly, son of slain builder Sunil Loharia’s son Sandip is determined to finish his father’s battle against the builder mafia, despite himself getting death threats. He showed his inclination to take over the cases that his father had been fighting. His father had initiated campaign against the irregularities and large-scale fraud in buildings constructed by his rivals and this was the reason why he was bumped off. Sandip is bent on taking his father’s battle against the builder mafia to its logical conclusion.
