Postwoman of Navi Mumbai
By Dinesh Kamath
VASHI: Postmen are common sight. But there is a post woman too in Vashi. She is Akansha Redij (42). She has been serving as postwoman for more than a decade.
She carries four bags full of letters and delivers them door to door, covering around 70 housing societies. She has to face quite many hardships like climbing the stairs while delivering these letters.
She has witnessed the reactions of the people whom she delivered letters. Some letters made them happy whereas some made them sad.
Akansha Redij is the resident of Nalasopara and has a five year old son. She commutes to Vashi daily. Her husband Ashok is a corporator. She also takes care of her home besides performing her duty as a postwoman.
Her superiors are very happy with her work and she is become a model for other women. Her exemplary performance has won her ‘Best postwoman’ award.
