Members of a society to drag NMMC and CIDCO to court?
By Dinesh Kamath
NAVI MUMBAI: More than 180 owners of commercial space in a Navi Mumbai building will issue legal notices to the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) and City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) for allowing construction of a parking lot on a 15-m-wide road, which also serves as an entrance for the commercial complex, Shiv Chambers Building, at Sector 11 in CBD Belapur.
The residents of this building call this an encroachment permitted by CIDCO and NMMC. The construction of parking lot has blocked the complex and constricted the pathway.
Society members have submitted a letter to the NMMC city engineer office and have also informed CIDCO authorities and are awaiting some action. If no action is taken, they will drag the two organizations to the court.

NMMC did promise to take appropriate action but there are RTI activist who wonder as to how such an order was approved in the first place. Affected shop owners have hired lawyer Minal Khona to get a stay on the construction.
