Pankaj Udhas to help raise funds for completion of Sharda Sadan at Kharghar

NAVI MUMBAI: Ghazal Maestro Pankaj Udhas will perform at Moments Ghazal Concert at Rangsharda Auditorum, Bandra Reclamation in Bandra West, Mumbai on Saturday, 2 March 2013 at 7 pm. Pankaj Udhas wishes to help, save and preserve the Kashmiri cultural heritage and to raise funds for completing Kashmiri Pandit Association project Sharda Sadan cultural center in Navi Mumbai,

These Kashmiri Pandits are forgotten, forsaken and forbidden lot. The plight of these displaced Kashmiri Pandits is very pathetic. Now the community is trying hard to stage a fight back by consolidating itself and working towards conserving their rich cultural and social heritage.

The Kashmiri Pandits’ Association, Mumbai, is a registered charitable social trust. Its main aim is to defend, make secure and popularize the rich cultural heritage of Kashmir. Over the last 40 years, it has organized many social and charitable programmes in and around Mumbai for the benefit of Kashmiri Pandits. It is currently focusing on the social and cultural centre Sharda Sadan at Kharghar, Navi Mumbai which has not been completed owing to lack of funds.

The Kashmiri Pandits are bent on completing this building. Once completed, it will enable these Pandits to serve the society through various social initiatives including educational scholarships, medical relief camps and financial grants, home for the aged, diagnostic facilities for the less privileged.

Pankaj Udhas is known for his terrific singing ability. He has a sweet voice and has rendered many melodious numbers. He has sung many ghazals which have become not only popular among Indians but also those people residing abroad. He has enormous ghazal fans across the world, and he is known for rendering beautifully the numbers penned by classic Urdu poets.

The concert will be held at Rangsharda Auditorum at Bandra Reclamation where the Ghazal king will regale the audience with his popular and melodious offerings.
